Well this sucks. Don "Mr. Wizard" Herbert apparently died Tuesday from complications of Bone Cancer. For you youngin's out there, Mr.Wizard was a T.V. Show that aired on Nickelodeon in the late 80's and early 90's about how to do cool science experiments. It sounds weak, but it was actually quite awesome.
R.I.P. Don- Your mixing Vinegar and Baking Soda with the angels now.
Thanks "Mr. Wizard"

Awwww :(
I never saw his show during the original run, but I saw a few episodes a couple of years ago. Though they looked older than 80's-90's... I mean, they were black and white and crackly.
And Bill Nye the Science Guy was one of my favorite shows as a child, and Nye was admittedly heavily influenced by Mr. Wizard, so I have him to thank for that.
Also, there was the "Mr. Lizard" segment on Dinosaurs that originally made me very upset (come to think of it, Mr. Lizard probably makes Dinosaurs the first Disney show to show a young child's death), but I grew to find funny over time. And it's possible (though I've never seen it confirmed anywhere, but they are quite similar) that Kenny's repeated deaths were inspired by Timmy's repeated deaths, so there's a chance that South Park would be different if not for Mr. Wizard.

Nah, my science teacher lets us help him blow up stuff. Like superheating soda cans and dropping them in water. Or pumping natural gas through dishwasher detergent and lighting it. Although I wish I'd seen the show. I think it was before my time though. (I was born in 1990, so when I hear 80's and 90's, it was probably on before I was born, or before I was old enough to remember stuff like that)NAveryW wrote:CorporalChaos wrote:Unfortunately, I haven't seen it or don't remember seeing it. You have. Let's just say that science is fun and now you'll never know why.
Occam's Razor: The simplest explanation is generally the correct one.
Essel's Corollary: The simplest explanation is never the fanon one.

If there's nowhere you can get DVDs and nowhere to download it, I'll be quite surprised.

When I was a kid one of my favorite things was to get up early and watch him on Nickelodeon. His show was one of my favorites and really was what got me into science. I still remember making baking powder rockets when I was young after watching one of his shows. That and making juice into pop by using dry ice, that was a fun one too. I am going to miss the old guy.
