So I literally just had this dream like not even a few hours ago.

So in the dream, it was from a third-person point of view and I wasn't even in it, so it felt kind of like I was watching a TV show. But in the dream, there was a storm forming over the USA, starting in New England and weather reports said that the storm would grow larger and might even become the largest storm in history. And there was a guy who ended up caught in the storm and the storm rained down red liquid and he ended up completely encased in it and it started heating up to a boil and as he started screaming in pain, his entire body turned into pizza. His flesh was replaced with melted cheese and his blood with pizza sauce.

And that was pretty much the rest of the dream, views of the storm growing in size as it turned more and more of the Earth into pizza and occasional views of people reacting to becoming pizza and stuff. But in the dream, other than the whole "pizza people" thing, life basically continued on as normal.

Unfortunately, I was woken up without a conclusion to the dream, the dream ended with a news reporter having just been turned to pizza and declaring that his master orders him to devour himself and he started to devour his hands.

I keep having dreams of having to explain to people why Rebuild isn't as thematically rich as NGE.
Among the people who use the Internet, many are obtuse. Because they are locked in their rooms, they hang on to that vision which is spreading across the world. But this does not go beyond mere ‘data’. Data without analysis [thinking], which makes you think that you know everything. This complacency is nothing but a trap. Moreover, the sense of values that counters this notion is paralyzed by it.

And so we arrive at demagogy. - Hideaki Anno, 1996

Had a bona fide nightmare last night for the first time since... I can remember. I was in some kind of labyrinth and there were dozens of voices. I was trying to find where they were coming from. For some reason I knew there were 12 voices exactly so I was trying to find 12 people, except the only "thing" I came across wasn't one of those 12 voices: This thirteenth entity was mirroring me in the maze, like, its position was always the exact opposite of mine and moved in perfect synchronisation. I knew it was there yet I only glimpsed it once through a clearing in the superstructure. It had no arms, legs or head, yet I knew it was some twisted apparition of my SO. The sight was just really oblique and disconcerting. I woke up and closed the door to the bedroom from some anxiety of seeing the thing again out in the hallway in the dark, then fell back asleep straight away.

This would make the greatest dungeon ever in a Zelda game. Any idea, what your brain tried to process in this eerie way?

That's Silent Hill-grade fodder is what it is.

Dreams are such an awesome source of creative material.

Mark Z. Danielewski. I'd seriously recommend reading one of his books if you haven't done so yet.

It was really the labyrinth association that made me think of it, and echoing voices too...

Thank you for the recommendation, in fact, I've never heard of him. Any book of his in particular I should consider reading? I'm going to put it on my ever-towering pile of my reading list.

When I dream of another person, it is rarely one person. If I look that person in his face, it's always a conglomeration of many, many faces. Though often I know who is there standing beside me, though it often changes rapidly in an instant. So for example, I stand in front of this remix-person, though I know I'm talking to person A, but in the next sentence it's person B, then C. Then A. It's rather arbitrary. I thought a lot about it. Maybe it's a sign that there are so many loosely connected persons in my life I all like to hang out with, but there's never been one person who I cling to. I don't know... But it fascinates me nevertheless.

^House of Leaves is his best work, I'd highly recommend it to anyone who wants to start reading his books.

When I dream of people it's usually just one person per body. I guess it's because I only know people within a small tight-knit community rather than a wide spectrum of loosely-connected people.

I haven't given it much thought but I seriously have no idea. Life's pretty good at the moment and there are no stresses in particular, not even at work.

I don't dream as often as I used to but I've always been a bit of a lucid dreamer. Very vivid in the least. I can recall details from intense dreams I've had as a child as strongly as I can with some real life memories. There are even recurring themes, places and make-believe people that have been with me my whole life. Another thing that's quite odd is that I can map out my dreamscapes - meaning I can actually get a pen and paper and doodle a map of the world of my dreams. If I have one, I can mark on the map where it was, and some of those places I can revisit in later dreams, sometimes years and years down the road even.

Another reason why that nightmare affected me so much as well was because it took place nowhere I could fathom. Just some random, cold, labyrinthine construct of my mind, I guess.

Like Shino said, definitely check out House of Leaves. It's probably my favourite book of all-time (scope out the books thread to see some conversation on it from last year). However, I personally probably wouldn't recommend his other outings. Even though I enjoyed The Fifty Year Sword well enough, it and Only Revolutions rise above little more than gimmicks than actual novels. That's why I have high hopes pinned on the forthcoming Familiar. Looking forward to an actual MZD story again as opposed to eye-roll inducing ergodic exercises.

Back in 2013 when I was living, breathing, eating, and dreaming Eva I had dreams in which I attempted to explain things about the series at least a couple times a week. And a couple nights I go I had one in which my friend's girlfriend violently tore the Nerv patch off of my bookbag and so I got in an argument with her while trying to explain to other people my True Eva Love. I'm sure a lot of us here on EGF have had similar dreams. ^_^

Sometime in the last five or so years I had a similar nightmare and I still think about it every once in a while. It was very evil, to put it simply. I was in some old multi-storied brick building that was lit only by dim fluorescent lighting and the walls and floors were made of concrete and I basically knew I just shouldn't have been there. Then I found myself in the building's basement, which was just one huge room that went on forever with pillars running throughout and as I was walking along I looked across the room and there was this huge gray creature that was walking between the pillars in stride with me, and I knew it was bad news. Think I woke up after that. Obviously they weren't strictly the same dream, but your post reminded me of it nonetheless. The human mind, man.
I used to work in a factory and I was really happy because I could daydream all day -- I.C.
And thanks to EVA, I've started like myself and that has made me very happy. Mr. Anno, please keep working on EVA a lot more.

Whenever I dream it's very rarely of a place that exists in reality; usually I dream of weird amalgams of places I've been, places I've seen, and places from videogames. Normally what I perceive as my home or room in dreams is very different from where I live in reality, although it does sometimes have some elements from it.

I often dreamed about Unit 2 under water, doing some task. I was surprised, when I saw Asuka launching underwater to ignite Wunder in Q.

The building reminds me of Anno's Shiki-Jitsu. And the creature a little bit of Shadow of the Colossus. :)

I had a very weird dream of several parts.

In the first part of the dream I was playing a Dark Souls-like game in which I was slowly descending into a large, spacious sewer area. I don't remember much about what happened although I know that it ended after I killed or was killed by a huge boss which seemed to be a clone of one I'd defeated earlier in the dream.

Next, I dreamt that we lived in a bizarre Communist system in which we were at war with somebody and had to occasionally fight for our lives against invading enemy forces and risked getting purged if we didn't show proper support by fighting. This may or may not have been the setting for my next two dreams, which seemed to show a more normal/modern society but weren't quite right.

In the second part of my dream I was wandering through a shopping mall trying to get to the bookstore at the top. While I was dreaming it I thought it was a certain shopping mall that I knew but in actuality it became a sort of amalgam of different places and buildings and getting to my objective became harder and harder. The up escalator had stopped so people had decided to walk down it rather than use the down escalator. Everything looked a bit crappier than it did in real life, too. For some reason my brain came up with a remix of 'In Just a Moment's Time' from Skullgirls while I was walking through a concert hall-themed area, with different lyrics, although I can't really remember what it was about. Anyway, while I was trying to get to my objective, and encountering more and more obstacles, I received a phone message that one of my friends had cut off the arm/hand of one of his friends. I may have somehow seen this happening, but I could just have been visualising it. This somehow then caused an automatic transition to the next part of my dream.

In the third part of my dream I was in class as usual. Everyone seemed to be talking about the fact that my friend had cut off someone's hand/arm but nobody seemed very concerned about the fact that he'd apparently gone insane and gone on the run as a result. On social media people seemed to be taking it in stride with pictures of the amputee attempting to readjust to life without his arm/hand (everyone referred to it as an arm but in photos it just looked like the right hand was missing). I wanted to ask my friend what it was like to have gone crazy and cut off someone's arm/hand, but naturally I had no idea where he was. On the plus side, I found a pen full of ink. The dream ended as I was taking a survey, apparently for the Communist regime, about how I would react if my domicile was suddenly attacked by insurgent forces.

Man, you have some vivid shit going on there! And you know all of it! I on the other hand just know that I had a pretty intense dream, but forgot everything else. Though I'm pretty sure it was triggered due to me watching Night on the Galactic Railroad (a beautiful movie) the evening prior.

I dreamt I swallowed a filled water balloon and spent the rest of the dream trying to induce vomiting to get it out of my stomach.

I dreamt last night that me and my sister locked my dad in a cupboard and wouldn't let him out until he agreed to stop being such a monumental waste of oxygen. Then I had a dream where it was my birthday and I got a metre-long model of the Macross. Then I had a dream where I was in the Macross (the actual Macross, not the model) playing the role of Hikaru and had to blast out remnants of a failed Zentradi superweapon that had infested the ship. The downside was that everyone was alternating between the Japanese voices and their Robotech voices (which for a certain Chinese idol is a very bad thing indeed). The upside was I got to kiss Minmay, so that was all good.
Here lies Squigsquasher.

In my latest dream-I-can-sort-of-remember, I went back to college. It was a very strange college, where the inside looked more like a fancy schmancy indoor mall, and they made it exceptionally difficult to navigate from one floor to another. (No straightforward staircases, and certainly no elevators... Chutes and ladders, I guess?) Also very difficult to find a parking space, and by that I mean that the parking lots themselves were difficult to find.

Now the best part: I was to regularly see a counselor of some sort for 20-30 minutes sessions, and this was none other than... Dr. House. Even stranger was that the two other students waiting in his office to see him were college-aged versions of Dr. Chase and Dr. Foreman. It's like we all showed up at the same time and instead of having actual appointments, we just said, "So who wants to go first?"

I let the other guys go first and wandered off campus to a Toys R Us-sized sex toy shop, where I was apparently shopping for a strap-on. The selection was fairly horrifying, as most of the toys looked more like sponges and brushes than like dildos. I don't think I bought anything.

I missed my appointment and bumped into Dr. House in the hallway. He made some off-color comment intended to chastise. That's all I remember about that.

Yesterday or day before, I also had a weird dream story arc where my five (or more, these are dreams after all) guinea pigs are still alive and well. I somehow managed to accidentally leave them and their cages at somebody's house, and instead of just calling me and letting me pick them up, the guy held them hostage. Wanted cold hard cash in exchange for my dear cavies. I attempted to get the cops involved, I think, but that didn't work for some reason. Ended up, after much angsting and scheming, just going to the guy's apartment, beating the tar out of him (SOMEhow), and taking my critters back. Kay.

Also another weird one about long-departed pets. I can't remember the context or plot, but it involved the family of cockatiels still being around. One of the daughters, Irene, was almost completely plucked. Totally pink. But it wasn't right -- like, instead of being all bumpy, her skin was smooth and mottled blue, and she had functional wings... made of skin flaps instead of feathers. Really weird and creepy.

Does anyone else have weird pet dreams? Most of the time, mine involve the guinea pigs (who all died of their own accord) or the cockatiels (one of whom died mysteriously, the rest of whom were given away because people stopped caring). The context for both of these groups is usually weird "neglect" dreams, where I find them in terrible conditions they shouldn't possibly be surviving, and yet they are. Sometimes my mitred conure, who's still alive and well, shows up as well, though a common theme with him is that there will be ANOTHER mitred conure there that sort of resembles him, and I'll feel hard-pressed to tell which one is Donald. (In real life terms, this makes no sense, since Donald's eyes, facial markings, bald patches, and favorite vocalizations are so distinct he'd have a hard time playing the needle in a much larger haystack of conures.)

I enter a room and, from the wall on my left, light shines in from a large window. The light isn't very bright, it's the dull glow that occurs on a dreary day filled with clouds. There's a woman sitting on her bed with her back against the headboard. Her hair is very long and dark. It is draped down her face so that no facial features are discernible. She's in a nightgown that's long and wide enough to double as the blanket. I get on the foot of the bed and crawl towards her. But she raises a foot up against me to keep me away. As I try to continue moving forward, the bed begins to grow longer and she moves farther and farther away, her head still facing my direction. I couldn't move, as her foot remained pressed up against me, despite her body being so far away.

That was it.

Yeah. Back in the day I kept a lot of fish and reptiles. I have recurring dreams where there's a crack in one of my aquaria, water is leaking out and I'm trying to find a container to save the fish in before it runs out. Usually there's nothing I can use nearby and I end up running around with the fish in a "bowl" made of my wet clothes, or worse, my mouth.
