So a (not very well worded, I'll admit it  ) comment on someone's posting style on a hobby-related forum set the guy off in what looks like full-on narcistic rage mode with regards to anything I post there (basically burning me down and drawing into question my ability to even think) and seriously dampened my enthousiasm for the hobby's subject. Which means that receiving a holy grail model kit about the subject was not exactly the joy I had hoped it to be because it reminded me of the ongoing drama on that forum. :uhh:

I won't dwell on the matter any further, just needed to get it off my chest.

Im sorry to hear that. Things seemed to be going well. :(

I didn't get the job I applied for.
Venting
SPOILER: Show
I work as a custodian and the position I applied for was for Head custodian at a different site. The thing that really pisses me off is that the person who got the job had only been with the company for 10 months, and Ill be starting my 9th year with them in August. Where im working at Im the only custodian and throughout the rest of the district the minimum at each site is 3 and a building mechanic. And at some sites they have people who maintain the grounds. Since I'm the only one there I have to do all the grounds work and most of the maintenance, all the building inspections, supply ordering and work orders. On top of all that Im not even considered a Head custodian and Ive been working a split shift pretty much throughout all my time with them. Usually from 5 to 9 am and then again in the afternoon from 1:30 to 5:30. The reason I originally applied was not because of any pay increase but because I was having trouble with some co-workers and I tried talking it out and working it out with them but they were set in there ways and unwilling to change.

Back to the position I applied for, the person who got the job was already a custodian at that site so now they're hiring for someone to take his place. I know if I stay where im at I'll continue to have problems with the co-workers. I'm thinking of asking for a transfer, there are around 5 open positions in the company but the closest one for me is the one where I applied to. But the way I'm feeling now I'm not sure I want to go to that site.
It's Ok if you hate me, I hate me too.

I'm sorry xeroko, but there's always more fish in the pond!

So. I heard a joke, which seems to be pretty obvious to everyone but me. Saturn would float in a bath tub big enough, but would leave a ring. I mean, Saturn has rings, and if you put something into water, the waves might look like rings as well? Or is it that it wouldn't take the ring with it? Why is this funny?

Damn. At least you ended it quickly rather than finding out about it much later.

I swear I read about that in a children's book, something to do with the density of Saturn as a gas giant or something.

I have sad news:

the joke isn't funny.
"The will to lose one's will?"
"Absolutely. The will to make oneself completely free. Will is the wrong word, because in the end you could call it despair. Because it really comes out of an absolute feeling of it's impossible to do these things, so I might as well just do anything. And out of this anything, one sees what happens."--Francis Bacon

What's to explain? The line of scum left around a bath tub, especially if your water is hard, is referred to as a ring; perhaps it's not the same in German.

Yes, chalky. The Thames Valley, in which I live, has some of the hardest water anywhere, so these effects are very familiar to me.

Shitty day mentally all around. I'm sure things will look up again soon enough, but still. Just sucks. Soo much stress in the past 8 months + more stress in the incoming month isn't fun. Too bad more people with stress can't take a holiday from life and just cruise around the world or something, you know? :sigh:
