I'm unsure whether it's tongue in cheek, and you're mocking the old misconception that Link was called Zelda, because of the game title, or whether you actually think Link is called Zelda.

At some point they really should make one starring Zelda. But she should not just be a Link clone... play up more of the 'wisdom' stuff, magic rather than weapons/items, more puzzles, much less doing stupid favors for lazy idiots. In fact... make Link the bad guy. Say he defeated Ganon and claimed his Power triforce, then went a little crazy trying to 'fix' the world to suit his warped views with an imperfect triforce lacking wisdom based on all the damn side quests modern Zelda games are just chocked to the brim with:

"I am the hero! Nothing happens unless I do it... in fact, nobody is ALLOWED to do anything without my involvement! Every quest, ME! Every task, ME! And if it gets boring I'll just make stronger opponents, let them run wild for a while so I have a good mess to clean up, followed by my just rewards of wealth and adulation by the masses! Everything will be perfect... I'll bend this world around my eternal exploits and just get rid of anything that gets in the way. It's my ULTIMATE QUEST!"

This would require a link other than the WW one to have a personality.

I would love for zelda to have her own game though, nintendo females (including samus, nintendo cant love samus if they made other m) don't get enough love.......except in hyrule warriors.
And no super princess peach doesn't count, i dont mind her powers being emotion based but if you are going that route do it ala starfire, peach is just bipolar.

Somehow I don't like Link as the bad guy (but some fanfics did used this concept).

And also there is matter of Triforce itself. The equal pieces that holds each other in check. In order to defeat Ganondorf's Power, Zelda's input is always needed, no matter how small, so the two pieces can overpower one.

If Link gets both pieces of Triforce he will be unopposed.
