How much is the approximate linear distance between you and Manhatten? And how long would you need to get there? (I'm just trying to grasp the size of New York, if I'm being too personal, you needn't answer)

The deck is made from some sort of fiber resin, don't think you can stain it. The table on the other hand, is probably on its way out, next year we'll probably buy a new one that's made of something a bit more durable.

According to Google Maps, it's about 3 and a half miles to the Freedom Tower. Getting to Manhattan via subway really depends on where you want to go, and can be as quick (15 minutes to the lower east side) or as long as 2 hours to get to the upper west side. It's usually pretty consistent any time of the day, rush hour or not. Only difference is on the weekends the trains sometimes run wonky and service changes sometimes, but getting into Manhattan usually isn't a problem. Driving into Manhattan is a totally different story, and it's taken me almost 3 hours once just to get to Canal street. You have to really plan your day (and time of day) if you intend to drive through Manhattan.

Huh, so it's not that far away... New York is one of the most fascinating metropolitan areas, one day I'll be there, even if it's just for a brief visit. :3
Thanks for the info, Ornette!

NP. It's not even a morning thing, because that direction is the west, it's also a great evening view.

Here's a start to an evening of some wine and 2 Bach Partitas.

Image

The strange thing is that the view of Manhattan is really big. Dunno if it's just the camera or the angle of the camera or what, but it looks way smaller in the picture than in person.

Also: my brother and his girlfriend just had another little girl, born on the same day (May 28th) as the first one's birthday.

Sooooo utsukushii~~~
But yeah, photographing landscapes, things in the distance always magically appear a lot smaller on picture, than they seem in RL. I still wonder why that is.

I walked up a small mountain in the lakes region of New Hampshire yesterday. Here is a shot of part of Lake Winnipesaukee.

Image

The main section of the lake is actually much bigger than that but one of my sausage fingers covered part of the lens on the picture of it. I must have forgotten which way my phone was flipped.

My mom always says it's not the terrible twos, it's the terrible teens.

I'd take a toddler over my 15 year old brother, but I guess since I'm not having kids yet, I'm stuck taking care of the dumb puppy.

New Hampshire is a beautiful place. I would seriously consider settling down there if I ever moved to the US.

Yeah, thanks for the reminder. I'm so not looking forward to that. :cringe:

Then again, I'll think of it as revenge for the shit my brother put our parents through when he was in his teens. Karma, dude.

Just gotta be comfortable with guns and juggalos, or so I hear.

I'm not, so I'm iffy, and that's even with ideological motivation to move there.

^Really? I didn't see any of that during a brief visit to Keene last year. Most of what I've heard of the place seems to be positive. Didn't seem like it would inspire a lot of juggalo activity

I grew up and live on the coast. It's very nice and I've been lucky to live here but I doubt it's representative of the state as a whole. Concerning Juggalos, I have no idea. The gun thing is probably right though.

Since SSD's on vacation, I'm cleaning stuff up in my spare time. Now I can display my paltry manga collection! Alas, it's quality over quantity.

Can I request someone who has a type writer to take some pictures of it? I need it for some art and I don't want to use an image on the internet for fear of copyrights and such.

Cheers if you could help.
