What reason do you have for getting up in the morning?

Alternatively, think of all the awesome things that you have yet to do. Seriously, something that gets me out of bed in the morning is the thought of all the Anime Expos that I have yet to attend.

I feel like shit. Haven't talked to anyone in months it seems like.

Might as well go to the video store tonight and rent something good as a pick-me-up
I thought about renting Capt. America: The Winter Soldier.

Any one want to come watch it with me? ^_^

Winter Soldier is a fine choice IMO. My opinion is that it's as good if not better than the Avengers, but I'm fairly certain that's an opinion unique to myself. In all seriousness, though, it's a fine piece of cinema. I think you'll enjoy yourself.

The down side: a guy friend thought I had a crush on him and I thought we were fighting and had to clear things up.

The up side: My BFF dumped her bf, she used him to get her ex back and me him were always close and had more in common. Anyhow, he's still getting over the breakup and we're hanging out as friends today. I'm really hoping that things could blossom into something more since he's such a great guy. Heck, Saturday night we facetimed until 1:30 am. He makes me smile and laugh and he's a geek like me, he's amazing.

When you haven't from a guy in months, it was better to end it.

That happened to me at work Friday. I got my revenge by calling her taste in Disney characters shit (she claimed Stitch was an annoying character).

The one girl I ever really pined for in high school not only turned out to have a boyfriend, but switched to another boyfriend during the time I knew her, and at no point was I ever an option because she was never attracted to me. In the long run, after I grew out of the simple reasons that I was attracted to her in the first place, it became very clear that not getting with her was probably one of the best things to happen to me. We would have grown to hate each other terribly, I can tell.

I'm just saying, heavytread, maybe one day you'll look back as I did and think "Thank goodness that didn't 'work out' for me at the time".

I second this. I can think of several different instances in my life where this was the case.

I remember being fourteen, it was only two years ago after all, and the consensus my brain can develop from the memories is that it was a very tedious, confusing hormonal blur. Of course in two years I'll most likely look back at 16 me and say the same thing, such is the nature of life.

but yeah, 14 and 15 were the worst years of my life, in terms of girls and sex and all that fun stuff, so far, have fun with that.

It's possible, but I wouldn't be so sure. I remember my teenage years and reflect with amazement at how quickly things changed but also how much of me, after certain periods of rapid change, became established and never changed back. Such as my Evangelion fandom, which was established at age 16.

Funny, I look back on being a teenager with complete disdain. I was a colossal dickwad (not that I'm not one now, just less of one) and had my head in the clouds. I remember a lot of what I did as a teenager and wince. I'm sure I'll do the same when I'm in my thirties about my twenties.

Sure, there are things that I've kept (love of computers, electronics, anime fandom), but I'm a very, very different person than I was in high school. I was quite, shall we say, "fedorable", in my sophomore year. I was a lot less guided and, unlike most people at that age, was quite the fascist (though I still maintain that about 95% of people on the road shouldn't be allowed to drive).

I was immensely awkward, you could make an entire book of the spaghetti moments I had in high school.

Heavy, it'll be easier the second time. Good job, though.

There is no sum of money you could pay me to repeat those years. Well, you have your twenties to look forward to. They've been treating me okay, so far.

I think the cut-off point is when you have to start fending for yourself -- I would say "finish full time education and have to get a job", but these days that doesn't come with the "and living as your own head of household" that it used to -- the point when responsibility is forced on you.

There is no sum of money you could pay me to repeat those years.
Same here, and that's even with an entirely girl-free existence between ages 11 and 18, which spared me that potential source of embarrassment.
