Yeah. You read right. This is for everything that doesn't have anything to do with Eva.

A similar "horrible" was described re: Google Glass. Guy walks about, minding his own business inasmuch as you can when you're passively recording everything you see. He stumbles across an obvious minor being raped. The raper laughs, knowing Mr. Glass will not report it because by viewing the scene he has recorded it, and thereby produced child pornography. All of this is in accordance with the law. Oftentimes the law -is- rationally applied, but then you have cases where two older minors videotape themselves having sex, don't distribute it or anything, but are still charged with production and placed on sex offender registries.

The problem is the law is too potent, too ripe for abuse, and too morally charged for there to be any conversation about revising the relevant statutes. We just have to depend on the official that determines whether charges should be filed, and hope that he/she is logical and rational, and not looking to make an incredible easy political statement (or looking to avoid failing to make an incredible easy political statement).

And now I've posted three walls of text about an issue I try not to think about but nevertheless retain most relevant facts to which I am exposed. It'd be nice to represent a criminal party on something like this, if only to justify having it all knocking around in my head. This is the sort of thing I don't even have the balls to write a journal article about. :/ FML.

When I was a teenager I was totally, totally into older women. I kind of resented the fact that if I had slept with them I would've been considered a victim of child abuse. I was so happy the day I turned 18 that I could finally attempt to sleep with them.

That makes the case you mentioned earlier about someone being 17 years and 364 days about the definition of child pornography and, by extension, age of consent an interesting point to bring up. Like, it's kind of amusing how if someone has a naked picture taken of them on that day, it's child pornography, but if it's taken one day later, it's cool. There's also a decent chance that a 16 or 17 year old might actually appear to be more mature than an 18 or 19 year old, as people mature at different rates.

Whenever the subject comes up, I've always wondered: what if you're a 15-year-old looking at naked pictures of a 17-year-old?

Dave Chappelle had quasi-related interesting thoughts on the matter.

I live in a country where courts are sometimes ludicrously lax as to their interpretation of criminal statutes, to the point where knowing what kind of evidence will be admissible and what won't can be a nightmare for both police and prosecutors, as several instances where high profile convictions overturned by higher courts have made clear. On the flipside, whereas such technicalities often contribute to a general feeling of impunity among the population, at least this degree of protection afforded to defendants usually ensures that those in prison truly are the worst of the worst, and there's no need to be concerned about serving hard time if you're not doing something really egregious.

Last Sunday I went to the beach and I got raped by the sun. The sea was rough and so I haven't been able to jump in the sea not even once. I just got bored as hell, in other words, I wasted my time. Now this tan hurts my skin and I can't even have a shower properly because it burns so much.

I'm reminded somewhat of Episode 22 by this...

Well, there are loads of after-sun or anti-sunburn creams available, so try and apply some and hopefully the sunburn will be gone within a week or so.

I recommend using Aloe extract; if used liberally, it can help you not peel so much. If your burns are light enough, it might just stop the peeling altogether and let you brown out.

Today I took a test in intro to particle physics. I went in feeling woefully under-prepared, and worse yet - I couldn't sleep at all last night. Like, not even for a couple of minutes.

Unsurprisingly, it didn't go too well. I don't think I failed, but I didn't get a particularly high score either (and I left about 10-15 points worth of questions unanswered). This is going to lower my grade average, but at this point I'll be glad if I can get away with an 80. If I have to retake this test, it's going to ruin half my summer.

I reserve the right to blame Xard for luring me into late-night skype chats about philosophy and Code Geass streams instead of studying, depending on the grade I get. We'll see in 1-3 weeks.

And now, to finally get some sleep...

That makes a lot more sense than my first half-brained guess (piano recital, either performing or attending. Why piano recital? Cuz ten seconds' thought, and somebody else around here had piano stuff).

Do you guys ever have days where you try to be a decent human being, try to be a good person, and do the things that you were taught to be right and true....and the only reward you get is you getting spat in the face?

Cause that's what it's starting to feel like to me these past couple of days. :raincloud:

apparently most people don't see human kindness as a trait worthy of praise; don't let that deter you, though - kindness is its own reward

Took a short bike ride around my neighborhood to get out of the house. The route I usually take passes by the house of the girl I've been interested in for a long time. This time she happened to be outside with her family, sorting through college stuff it seemed. She recognized me and waved as I rode past.

For most guys, this would have been a great opportunity to pull over and strike up a conversation. But my brain, being the way it is, decides to make me simply wave back and keep on moving. What's more, she's leaving to go to Cuba for a month in the next few days and she's studying abroad in Seville next year....

Just one more in a long list of episodes involving her that make me :headdesk: every time I think about them.
