So, I've been putting off buying a new needle for my record player for the past four months, but I finally worked up the energy and ordered it on Monday. Wednesday went to the record store(s) because it was a balmy 20 F outside and picked up these three records;

I can't really say anything about this one that hasn't already been said, but yea, it slays. The layout of the record is so nice; one of the records looks like a pink Starburst and the other like a demon drop. So great.

Fucked Up probably have my favorite art direction on their releases since The Smiths. They make it totally worthwhile to shell out the few extra bucks to buy their releases in a physical format. "Year of the Tiger" is Fucked Up's last release in their Chinese Zodiac series and it's one of my favorite songs by them. The B-side is some sort of drony instrumental track; it's ight.
Couple Tracks is a collection of singles that I haven't listened to all the way through yet because I've mostly been listening to my other two purchases, but it includes a really great love song entitled "I Hate Summer" that makes it easier to make it through this long winter.

Excellent choice on the Deafheaven LP - I have that same pink/beer variant (out of to 700, I think). If you don't have it already you should get yourself Roads to Judah as well.

I've never been able to get into Fucked Up though personally.
Also found it frustrating when Ceremony started doing a similar thing too.

Got these pair of cuties today:

Wide is love, wide is life.
I'm slightly disappointed at Miya's (and to a lesser extent Yuno's) hair color; not quite as vivid as you see in most pictures, but rather a more pastel-like color (closer to how it appears in the anime, actually). Still, they're both awfully cute.

I also got the last Valvrave model kit I was missing, meaning I now have the full set (not including varying editions of unit 1).

S.H.MonsterArts Fire Rodan:

This little guy is awesome - vs Mechagodzilla II is one of the better films of the Heisei era and it's all thanks to Rodan, and I never considered myself much of a fan prior. This figure is probably the smallest (only about four inches tall standing with a wingspan of about seven or eight) and cheapest in the SHMA line but Tamashii compensate with some included extras and accessories. These include a uranium beam effect for Rodan, two different types of stands, an additional head for SHMA Mechagodzilla 1993 featuring a busted eye (pecked out by Fire Rodan in the film) and a red spiral beam piece for Godzilla.

Only issue is that the sculpt is marred by a weak beak. It looks too soft, curved slightly when it should be more straight as depicted in the movie. Still very satisfied with this figure though.

I got it from a Japanese seller on eBay for what seemed to me a good price (comparing with my Groundworks books, for instance).

The manga section I haven't sat down to yet; probably not until tomorrow, as it's late here now.

Getting ready for spring; I went shopping. Usually when I go to clothing stores I just get really mad and laugh at the things they're selling for too much money and I leave empty handed, having spent $2.25 on train fare. But yesterday was different.

Also, found this official map of the Moon in a bunch of my uncle's astronomy documents. It's about 3 ft x 3 ft. or so. Going to use it when I take my jaunt there this summer.

Everyman's Library released this collection of poems and a play by my man Jamba Juice earlier this week. They're one of my favorite publishers and I like their pocket poet editions especially. I've read Chamber Music and his other poetry already, but I've only ever heard of Exiles so I'm excited to go through that when I get the chance.

EDIT: As the name implies, it's quite a small hardcover. Very nice and compact to hold.
