I'm not even sure how I feel about this. Luckily, I'm not a diehard when it comes to their music, so I'm okay with them destroying their credibility with me. If it turns out to be good, then hey, good on them.

When I'm half-listening to Planet Rock, and start to wonder to myself "What the hell is this crap, and how does it fit on this station?" it's usually back-announced as something by Muse; most recently that honour went to Knights of Cydonia.. Sometimes, though, it's Soundgarden, when they play something other than the horribly recognizable Black Hole Sun.

This is the only way to objectively judge music.
Sachi wrote:That seems rather silly, considering music is a mostly subjective experience. I'd much rather judge a song based on how much I enjoy it, or by how closely it resonates with me, rather than plugging it into an arbitrarily constructed equation and seeing if the numbers tell me I like the song. But to each there own, I suppose; I have plenty of my own silly rituals.

Now that I'm back to ballet, I've been going back to classical pieces and Tchaikovsky will always remain as my favorite. The man is truly a romantic genius: you can feel the romance fill your ears and feel just so happy when you start listening to all of those wonderful tones and I always end up reenacting my old ballet lessons from when I was 14 years old
Needless to say, I love classical music. Perhaps it's the only kind of music I listen to.
Your last statement reminded me of a metal group from Finland. I can't remember its name right now, it had to do with something about 'night'. My point is, I only liked it because they tried to resemble epic, symphonic music as much as possible.
