As Imperialist is now banned, I will answer for him.
[Imperialist] I do not understand these modern stuffs. Also, sex is impure and disgusting. Now, I must go work out in my suit, with my sensei who created Evangelion. Oh, by the way, I may not have mentioned this, but I am Japanese. If you'll please excuse me... [/Imperialist]
Awesomely Shitty

-the only English language novel actually being developed in parallel to its Japanese version involving a pan-human Soviet in a galactic struggle to survive and to export the communist utopia/revolution to all the down trodden alien class and race- one of the premise being that Khrushchev remains and has abandoned Lysenko stupidity

As I Am, This Dying Soul, Stream of Consciousness and Solitary Shell are ones I recommend because I have to admit about half of the songs of DT are outright boring and plain. Maybe you're listening to the wrong music.
Also, I forgot to mention Blink182.
Although none of these bands are my style, some of their songs really are an eye-opener.

I do want to take a moment to mention the most UNDERRATED band I know of: KING'S X
One of the great mysteries of the universe is how they never became the biggest band in the world. They are one of the most talented bands I've ever heard, but they never let their talent get in the way of the song-writing. And yes, they have a catalog of amazing songs. Sounding like an odd mixture of hard, progressive rock with Beatle-esque vocal harmonies, they've managed to be one of the most widely respected but most criminally under-appreciated bands of all time.
I highly recommend anyone who likes good music to check them out. While everyone disagrees on their best album, most everyone seems to love Gretchen Goes to Nebraska. If you want something heavier (as Gretchen is more melodic), check out Dogman.

Dream Theater are constantly changing. They seem to piss off fans and gain new ones with each album. Their old stuff is pretty classic progressive metal, but they've really incorporated some more modern influences recently. They've always been pretty refined, so if you don't lean towards the technically advanced stuff, they might not be your kind of music. If you like heavy stuff, try As I Am and The Glass Prison.Sachiel_13 wrote:I tried to check out Dream Theater, maybe I just listen to some of the wrong stuff by them, but it just wasn't my style. It was too refined.

I've seen so many changeful years, / to Earth I am a stranger grown: / I wander in the ways of men, / alike unknowing and unknown: / Unheard, unpitied, unrelieved, / I bear alone my load of care; / For silent, low, on beds of dust, / Lie all that would my sorrows share. - Robert Burns' Lament for James

Like many of you, I have a ton of bands I love, but overall, my favorite is definitely relient K. I've been with them since the very begining and they're one of the few modern bands who make no appology about what they play and consistently get better.
That said, here are some I'm guaranteed to crank up:
-Coheed and Cambria
-Aerosmith
-Rise Against
-Underoath
-Def Leppard
-Falling Up
-Funeral for a Friend
-Goo Goo Dolls
-EMERY
-Blink-182
-Led Zepplin
-Saosin
-Rolling Stones
-Hit the Lights
-Five Iron Frenzy
-Silverstein
-Fall Out Boy
There are SOOOO many more. I tried to narrow down the list.

Eva Yojimbo wrote:Lol Kamelot... I mean... they're ok, but of all the power metal bands in all the land... WHY THEM? I can think of 10 off the top of my head that destroy them IMO.
Well, I think that Khan has a beautiful voice. Their music is wonderous and they write songs that are exactly what I want to listen to. Not some sad emo shit about how sad they are, but songs that bring to life mythological history: 1,001 Nights, Faust, Elizabeth Báthory, etc. I dunno... they just set a beautiful tone to their music and it makes it so much better.
Also, Khan and Thomas Youngblood both like Fight Club (one of my favourite movies!) and they're my favourite band members!

Ugh, I remember them from my Jesus daze. "Marilyn Manson ate my gorlfriend..." I was in the car with a bunch of church friends when they played that on the radio and we all agreed that we wanted to beat them up.
