Hyper Shinchan's no gayer than I am. He's just a fan of yaoi.

Since the discussion about Hal seems to have run its full course, I suppose now would be the time to inquire about other past members should anyone feel so inclined. I'll start, does anyone close to them know why Mugwump and Chee left the forums?

They didn't exactly keep it a secret -- they were tired of this place. You think there was more to it? Both of them put out signals for ages before they finally left. I see no mystery here.

EDIT: Ninja Nuke with the goods.

I'm still wondering what happened to Angelno13bardiel. His departure was abrupt, I hope he's alright.

I've noticed Bard just takes leave of absences from time to time. He'll pop up, post solidly for a couple months, then drop off the radar again. Rinse, repeat.

I didn't really become a regular poster again until this past summer, so I guess I missed those signals. I spent the previous two years as someone with brief spurts of activity who would lurk the rest of the time. I also don't go on IRC, so I know I miss whatever it is that happens on there.

I consider myself "mostly straight" (I'm currently looking only for a female romantic partner, for example), and last we talked Hyper Shinchan gave the impression of being essentially the same and also expressed annoyance (or something like it) that people keep assuming he's gay because he posts yaoi.

If you're "mostly straight", then why have you narrowed your search down to less than-even-half of all potential partners?

For me it was less that than the fact that he really wanted the rest of us to be forced to look at yaoi. The policy about putting images in spoiler blocks really pissed him off, for example. That smacked of someone who was trying to force acceptance on others, not someone with a particular kink.

It's complicated.

And off-topic, to boot.

He replied to me on the 7th of this month, yet it still says he's been away since the 27th of September.

Seems like he's just really busy and/or wanted a break then. So long as he isn't gone for good, I suppose that's what matters :p

Chuckman just does his own thing, most of the time. I don't think it's all that unusual.

I wouldn't go that far. I've seen my own "you last visited on [...]" as a good few hours behind. If I were to guess, he signed in, posted his reply, and then signed out again, before it changed his last visit date.

I assume he's on a vision quest, brokering power among the dread unnamables with which to amuse and astound us upon his return.
