RIP Caption Contest
It's a shame to see the thread go,
but Sailor Star Dust did make a good point:
the thread lived a long, healthy,
163 page life.
I saw the thread as a good place for
a newbie to start posting in the forum.
Though I did find that after a while,
it was in-fact, the only thread I was
posting in...
So, a shame; but a smart move
nonetheless, I'm sure.
Good move Admin/Moderators.

That thread was my raison d'etre. Now I now how Asuka felt when Nerv fired her.
He shuddered a bit, remembering the somewhat creepy level of detail Kaji had gone into, while rubbing a watermelon in a disturbingly sexual way.

I wasn't seeing any good images come through that thread in a long while anyway.
I wouldn't have asked for a lock if it were me, but we could all see it dieing.

...but maybe I can learn to live without the captions thread! Maybe a me who is not a captioner can exist as well!

SSD: "Congratulations!"
Ornette: "Congratulations!"
Reichu: "Congratulations!"
Me: "Thank you all".
(wakes up in post-apocalyptic wasteland, and finds Mr. Tines lying next to him)
Me: "I've been betrayed!" (strangles Tines)
Mr Tines: (caressing cheek) "Thank you for fulfilling my death-wish, kind stranger."

So if I want a thread locked, all I have to do is request it? Well, in that case I request all of EGF be locked. Thanks.
P.S. With caption contest gone, I am now officially dead inside.

-On EMF, as a thread becomes longer, the likelihood that fem-Kaworu will be mentioned increases exponentially.
-the only English language novel actually being developed in parallel to its Japanese version involving a pan-human Soviet in a galactic struggle to survive and to export the communist utopia/revolution to all the down trodden alien class and race- one of the premise being that Khrushchev remains and has abandoned Lysenko stupidity

I concur with brikhaus. Discussion is fine and all, but Caption contest was the best part of the site.

Guy, guys, really now. This is a Forum! There will always be other entertaining threads, you just have to create them! What kind of thread do you guys want to make? Caption contests are only one of many things you can do to pass the time.
You would think that you guys would notice the "create new topic" button at the top of the screen. Yeesh!

I think it was long overdue. It slowly changed from the caption contest thread to the roleplaying based off of different images thread. Euthanization was probably the most humane thing that could have happened to it.
That being said, it wasn't me.

they did start getting past captions and into exchanges, yes, but so long as it was contained to a single post and not starting multi-post continuous discussion of the same scenario I don't think it can be levied with the RP charge... unlike what happens every damned day at THAT BOARD.

*Raises hand up high*
I've requested on the IRC that it should be locked many times. Now let me do a happy dance to celebrate.
Oopps, that wasn't a happy dance. Let's try it again.
I think I can do better.

Yeah, your rescue of the thread was too late, and when you couldn't decide on a treatment to keep it alive, it died on you. Way to go, Dr. Bastard.
Also, thread needs a final post that says 'Kilroy Was Here'

It was the first thread i viewed and the only thread i lurked on before i created an account, i really do miss it.
And no it didnt have a good life, a good life would of been lettign it reach the ripe old age of 200 pages but nooooooo someone had to kill it.
Panda prays for divine intervention.
Is it ok to create another ?
Maybe an off topic one ?
