It's a shame to see the thread go,
but Sailor Star Dust did make a good point:
the thread lived a long, healthy,
163 page life.

I saw the thread as a good place for
a newbie to start posting in the forum.

Though I did find that after a while,
it was in-fact, the only thread I was
posting in...

So, a shame; but a smart move
nonetheless, I'm sure.

Good move Admin/Moderators.

But yeah. The lock was requested a few times by some regular members as well as some of the staff. Personally, I liked the thread, but at least it had a good life. ^_^

I concur with brikhaus. Discussion is fine and all, but Caption contest was the best part of the site.

Guy, guys, really now. This is a Forum! There will always be other entertaining threads, you just have to create them! What kind of thread do you guys want to make? Caption contests are only one of many things you can do to pass the time.

You would think that you guys would notice the "create new topic" button at the top of the screen. Yeesh!

I think it was long overdue. It slowly changed from the caption contest thread to the roleplaying based off of different images thread. Euthanization was probably the most humane thing that could have happened to it.

That being said, it wasn't me.

they did start getting past captions and into exchanges, yes, but so long as it was contained to a single post and not starting multi-post continuous discussion of the same scenario I don't think it can be levied with the RP charge... unlike what happens every damned day at THAT BOARD.

I myself allowed the thread to die and agreed with everyone about it on the IRC. Even though I liked the thread, it was inevitable. It was on its deathbed and died of natural causes. We can only look back upon its wondrous life of 163 pages. A legend of our time and it will be missed.

I was on irc when it happened, i was not pleased.

It was the first thread i viewed and the only thread i lurked on before i created an account, i really do miss it.

And no it didnt have a good life, a good life would of been lettign it reach the ripe old age of 200 pages but nooooooo someone had to kill it.
