Don't worry -- I can't read moon either. And it's likely you have more time and energy to spare than I do for the moment, between work and non-NGE fanac.

So how do we contribute securely? I would like to have a wiki account. The advantages of an account is that you can have articles which are not to be edited by outsiders.

Well, I just want to get cracking on the wiki.

Ditto. I want to contribute as much as I can to this, even if it's just something trivial... like arguing about how I think Seele sent a lot of the Angels to NERV personally...

At first I was VERY confused, but now I think I get it. This forums and the one for the Fangeeks site is different, thank God. (That'd be a headache if that wasn't the case, I think.)

FYI, the Fangeeks Wiki has a limited number of people working on it, just so you know.

we're kind of in the middle of setting up rules and regulations and just exactly how the wiki will operate, etc. my guess is we'll be operational in like a week or two, but some major overhauls are on the way before that

You see it is not "a wiki", philosophically. It's just easier to set up using mediawiki. It's just an "online encyclopedia" which happens to use mediawiki.

exactly: it's not really a "wiki"

I thought we had settled on "Evapedia"...

Lookin' good. 8)

I love the header for the front page: it's a clever design that doesn't go for the obvious choices of images (2-A's teacher).

Hopefully I can keep up to speed on everything. But I am thinking that this site WILL reach its goal.

Monkey, I removed the php files from drinian.org, and posted a more obvious link to the new board. Thanks guys, it was fun watching my server logs skyrocket for a few months. Glad to have other people dealing with it now, though, especially since I still have admin access here if I ever feel like wreaking havoc :). This is a great idea, I hope it works out.

First of all, Jesus, I take a couple of months break from these forums, and I return to find it going through the process of death and rebirth. It's like coming home from college, and finding out that your house burned down, but they've already built a new, very similar house.(And we'll add a den to it!)

So in summary, peace evamonkey.com, I'll pour a 40 for ya,(....into my mouth) and long live evageeks.org.

As far as the Eva-pedia, or Wiki or whatever, how will that address any conflicts as far as interpretation of the facts?

You guys are used to the age before online encyclopedias and such when discussion was handled on the boards, and largely up to interpretation. years upon years of study forged LOTR into DEFINATIVE areas of certainty and uncertainty, through print publications etc. Essentially, they wound it down to "ok, we're not sure if Balrogs have wings or not, here's the arguement for and against each version. We cannot achieve a definative version from this evidence" The goal is to just achieve this same end result, really really fast.

Of course, my stated goal for writing this is "imagine that Weta Workshop is going to have to read this when they make a live action Eva film, and we're educating complete newbies about the show"

Case in point, one of the "finished" in-depth Analysis pages (which I spent a lot of time working on is: The Soul in Eva 00

That's pretty much what "contentious" issues are going to be handled like. Explaining the evidence for and against and hopefully coming to a tentative conclusion.

"We demand solid facts!"
"No we don't! That is precisely what we don't demand!"

While it is gratifying to see that you have conceded that the evidence strongly favors Rei 1 over Naoko, I still have some serious reservations with how you have presented the pro and cons of this issue; namely that you a: have omitted mentioning some of the strongest evidence favoring Rei 1, and b: have conceded too much (even while admitting that it almost certainly wrong) to the Naoko heresy, which I contend is entirely bogus and baseless.

I'm not sure how best to deal with this; if I had written this analysis myself, I would have gone about it quite differently (i.e., my starting assumption would be that all the real evidence points to Rei 1, while the pro-Naoko "case" comes down to a faulty assumption (that Unit-00 may have been after Gendo and/or Rei, when, in fact, the actual target of its tantrums was Ritsuko, and Ritsuko alone). I don't know whether editing your analysis could salvage it to my satisfaction, or should I just write my own presentation on Unit-00's soul (would competing analyses of the same issue in the 'Theories and Analysis' section be an acceptable option?)

EDIT:
I suppose this is off-topic here; I'll take this up on the relevant Talk page.

I'd be all for that. We need to leave room for people to make up their own minds about things.

The only reason I ever came here is the community, even after my interest in ANIMUS somewhat waned.

Since the community seems to still be here, welp, then I don't think I'm going anywhere, sorry BobBQ.
