Okay, that really is weird. The user who was banned was penpen4life for the ban reasons stated (you'll see it in the ban notices thread) so by rights you shouldn't have gotten anything.

You don't have a dynamic IP address or use a shared computer or anything like that, do you? That's the only reason I can think of for something like this to happen, and in all the time I've been around I don't recall hearing of one user getting hit with the ban reason for another.

An accident of circumstances, of course. The still increasing sharing and reallocation of IPv4 addresses has made this sort of thing far more common than it used to be. Roll on universal use of IPv6, in which everyone has a fixed range of permanent addresses!

I've noticed this afternoon that when I go to the forum page, I can no longer see the forums without logging in. Is this a permanent change or just a glitch? I have no problem with things set up like this, but I do like to check the forums sometimes without bothering to log in.

It is a change. I cannot comment further.

This is not necessarily a change. The issue comes and goes, and only affects some people. I have not yet been able to find a reason, though. I have not had to re-login to read and write this.

Some users couldn’t be added as they do not have permission to read private messages.
Odd. This user can send a message but cannot receive one?

Anyone know how I can contact Xard in the meantime?

I tried to search for something in my old posts, and noticed that the "search all posts" function is seriously broken after a few pages; Switching pages acts extremely weirdly, showing the second/second to last page with the results of the first, not letting you access the first/last page after you've left them, jumping back and forth between the start of the list and end of the list if you click on the quick selection page count, and jumping back-and forth between pages in the middle (I tried it with page 30; when I clicked on 41, I was sent to 28, clicking on 29 after that did nothing, 30 sent me to 29, and 31 back to 28).

It's not a terrible bug that needs immediate fixing or anything, I'm just putting this here in case it's related to any bigger issue that might arise down the line and might help get to the bottom of that

Apologies for the double post, but the issue has been resolved by our lovely backend people; the cause was quite hilarious actually, namely the topic had been viewed so many times that there was an integer overflow in the database

Lol,okay. That's actually great comparing how i thought it's some sort of clickbait/phishing bait/scam that someone put upon which my browser security is filtering out and restricting me to go further. Well, glad that got solved.

It's a whole bunch of sub-forums that have been affected. As it started around midnight Pacific time, it may be some housekeeping function on a timer. Possibly a stalled back-up or something like that, since it's lasted this long.

a typo was introduced in an htaccess file, I added back the missing "*".
