I personally prefer the Japanese menus, they are just beautiful :)

Would anybody of you be so kind and post some screens from the US-version? I´d love to see them :)

If its anything like the British menu's think the same layout as the Japanese but with bits from the film running above the menu bar, at a guess anyway as I never got round to watching my R1 1.01 before I got the RB 1.11 blu-ray release. Hmm good guess just found these shots of it:

The R3 Hong Kong ones are pretty much the same as the Japanese ones.

Japanese.

I really dislike the american one and I'm not too crazy about the british one but I'm more neutral on that one (Don't hate it, just don't like it.)

Why do the 1.11 menus look different just because one's BD and the other's DVD? Wouldn't it make more sense for Funimation to make things uniform and have the same menu for either release? (Space issues shouldn't be a reason since Extras for 1.11 DVD are on their own disc.) /Confused SSD

I'd say the Japanese menus look the best only based on "prettiness", but each one seems to get the job done so yeah. Only thing is, apparently Funi screwed up on their 1.11 DVD (I just got it but haven't watched it; I only had 1.01 before that.) where selecting the Jospeh-Maurice Ravel version versus Sagisu version of Rebuild Of Evangelion 1.01 (AKA the making of feature) plays the opposite songs.

That aside, I noticed something amusing when skimming through the guidebook: Aoba's jibbed out of a spot in the characters section.

And in the Introduction section, what originally "Evangelion New Theatrical Edition: Prelude" or "Prelude" (in the 1.01 pamphlet) is now rendered as in the 1.11 booklet as "Evangelion:1.0 You Are (Not) Alone", but "Prelude" is still mentioned in a few spots throughout the booklet. Maybe Funimation swapped one title for another to differentiate their 1.01 and 1.11 releases or something.

Here's U.S. 1.01 DVD, since it's not up yet:

I just realized: Funimation's 1.11 DVD doesn't have much in the way of the trailers as extras (eg: No FMtTM trailers or the notice that spefically said "New machine, new character, new story"). I feel ripped-off they expect double-dipping for 1.11 BD, unless they're following Japan's releases to the letter.

EDIT: It turns out that Fly Me To The Moon Extras are missing in later prints! =_= See here: http://forum.evageeks.org/viewtopic.php?t=10999

Why Funimation couldn't retain the Japanese credits or unedited Next-Time Preview (screen of English text instead of the usual subs and the Japanese text?! But ADV's Platinum was fine...) though... >_>

This. Very likely the best DVD menu I've ever seen, anime or otherwise.

I like the US menus better. Seriously, using trees and powerlines? Way too artistic for me. And the Japanese menus look boring to me.
NGE was a damned good anime
EoE was an anime masterpiece
And Rebuild is nothing short of epic

Definitely the Japanese ones. I'm happy with the 1.11 Australian/UK BD one too.

Some of the other 1.01 ones just looks kind of tacky with the "cool" fonts.

Yeah, I think the Japanese menus somewhat makes sure that it DOESN'T SPOIL THE FILM.

Awesome, I didn't realize Poland has Evangelion! :w00t: Maybe I should have a relative mail me a DVD or something. >_>

Personally I think the Japanese menus are the best, not necessarily because they're the original menus/packaging (but I guess that helps) but because of the "natural" scenery they use for the menus, like the 2.22 menu. It creates a nice touch. I'm assuming the DVD and BD menus are exactly the same for the respective versions (eg 1.11 DVD and BD is the same, 2.22 DVD/BD is the same)?

Only 1.11 though, unfortunately. The company decided a few weeks ago that they won't be releasing anime any more, so no 2.22 :/

Oh well, the 1.11 release was pretty cool. I'll be posting pics of the limited edition extras in the extras thread.

And at least the manga is still being published (vol. 12 is scheduled for May).
