Apperantly, there's an asteroid named after Anno. Accoring to legend, only a piece of this asteroid, his original home, can make him lose his incredible writing powers.

Then it must have hit him right between the eyes just before he sat down to start making rebuild.

I don't think that's generally what happens when one is hit by flying space debris. I hate to break it to you.

generally

If that's not what generally happens, then there's a fraction of the time when it does happen.

That asteroid contains the real life Lilith, giving Anno the Fruit of Wisdom inside his own head. That explains everything!

And Gerard Butler has the Fruit of Power.

It says it was discovered in '94, though, which was before Eva. Why would someone want to name it after Anno before he became Japan's biggest troll?

Killer Bee, it has an alternate name listed in the information panel on the right.

going by this, it was probably (re)named after Anno sometime after it was originally discovered.

Time warps are like women: Never there when you need them.

all kidding aside, i have to say... this is freakin' awesome. :toothy: otaku WIN.

crap, i'll have to rethink my list of names for celestial bodies i discover, now. seems like "Asuka" has been bumped a spot.
bittersweet ending: episode 24. the angels are gone and mankind is safe... but tokyo-3 has been ruined; Kaji is dead; toji is a cripple; kensuke, hikari, and their families have moved away, taking pen-pen with them; Asuka is catatonic; ritsuko is in prison; Misato is a nervous wreck; Rei is "the third one"; and Shinji is utterly broken psychologically after having to kill the only person who has offered him unconditional love in the course of the whole series. come the movie? don't worry! it gets worse! ~from the source of all wisdom in the world.

Well, he had already directed Gunbuster and Nadia so he was somewhat famous already by that time.
