Evangelion 4.0, do you really want an alternate ending?

Well, do I really want an alternate ending?
Let me think, if it ends in the same beach-note, people are probably gonna be pissed because people usually like change. (while in reality they don't, they will bitch with the different ending Rebuild is gonna have, but let us reserve judgement till then.)
If it ends in a different way, it's obvious it's not gonna be an ending that flats out tells what happens, which means it's gonna require another huge portion of braincells all around the globe to comprehend whatever the hell happened.

So the question really is, do I want to rage like the rest of the world in case the first happens, or do I want to keep my sanity in case the second scenario unfolds? Either way I lose, oh crap.

Oh well, bring the ending with chibi-Shinji, let the trolol begin.

Of course a lot of people don't want it, a good part of the hate focused exactly on the changes and the fact that almost everything has been changed for the worse in the haters' opinion.

I want this ending to be a different color than EoE's ending. It can't be red or the color of LCL. It can't be blue, either, like EoTV was. I'm picturing gold, like with a sunrise. It can be just as depressing, and maybe the same stuff happened, maybe everybody has underwent Instrumentality again and Shinji and one other person are the only who have yet returned, but I want it to look different. A different aesthetic, different imagery. No giant white Rei's head or crucified Evas or seas of LCL. That was all very iconic, but 4.0's last scene has to create new icons.

Personally, I'm hoping that we can get this semi-aborted 3rd Impact out of the way early in 3.0 because I'm a little bit burnt out on Instrumentality as a type of trippy therapy session/plot device. Not only would it feel redundant to spend more time there, but, at this point, it would almost feel like a "cheat" to me.

If they really want to do something different this time around, perhaps they could demonstrate how some of the characters might be willing to take the first steps toward trying to resolve their issues out here in the real world by actually talking to each other for a change.

I'm not suggesting some sugar-coated happy ending. That would be too simple and probably come off as fake. However, Anno's already proven to me in vivid detail that he's perfectly capable of destroying his characters and the world they inhabit. For 4.0 I would rather see things end with a world full of people (preferably the un-melted kind). They can still be complex, angry, depressed people, who are full of regrets, but I'd like to see some signs that they're also determined to pick up the pieces of this mess SEELE/NERV got them in and eventually move on with their lives.

I'm calling a Terminator 2 ending where Rei realizes she has no choice but to merge with Lilith, or third impact will always hang over humanity.

Clearly Seele should combine all the angels DNA to create an all powerful super angel, which they have to beat by combining all the Eva's together into one giant Eva and have an epic battle with the fate of humanity at stake.

On a more serious note I think most of the trippy mind stuff can be done in 3.0. We really don't need to end another series that way, but it should definitely be in the plot some how.

I would expect nothing less that a totally new ending. Character development, plot lines, everything has digressed on a tangent from the original incarnations of Eva.

Since 2.0 had a pretty big divergence from what we saw in EvaTV, I think it's pretty doubtful that Rebuild will have the same ending as EvaTV or EoE.
