@Merridian: It said "Instrumentality in other anime/media" so I interpreted media pretty loosely.

IIRC, the plot of "Vampire Savior", the third and final (as of yet) game in Capcom's Darkstalkers series had some Instrumentality-like elements. The character Jedah takes it upon himself to "reset" life by collecting and merging all souls into a giant fetus-like creature (seen in his stage).
