1.0 & series Eva Tarot Card Icons

Inspired by a thread about the Eva Tarot Cards, I decided to go on a little artistic endeavor of my own - making tarot cards of my own! While they may or may not be of use here due to their size and they are of debatable quality, I figured they would be a nice thing to share. I'm not done with the entire set yet, but expect this to be what I spend my Thanksgiving Break on.



I've got most of the set figured out, but I still need some ideas for The Hanged Man, the Star, and the Sun. Any ideas guys?

Good job so far! Maybe Asuka could be the Sun? (And Shinji as Earth if there is a card of that.)

The Lovers should be either Gendo/Yui or Kaji/Misato. The Star: Eva-01flying in space. Hanged Man: Rei 1 being strangled ala Death.

Lilith with wings & the Black Moon should be Empress, 2I Adam Emprorer. EoE shot of Moon Sun & Earth as The World. Eva-01 at the start of Ep26'/EoE or Seele should be Devil.

It's almost like there wasn't a single character who committed suicide by hanging themselves.

AKA, Kyoko-sama needs sum lurv. I agree with SSD about the Star and the Sun though.

lol, all of these are from Rebuild 1.0, which is the only thing I have on hand. So, I kinda have a limited number of images I can choose from. I really don't feel like downloading more stuff. :p

Ah. Then the sun needs to be 1.01's Fifth Angel (Shamshel), the Star should be the Sixth Angel while shapeshifting, and the Hanged Man should be the Second Angel.

As an alternate idea, what about the plugsuit hand-hold shot after Rei smiles?


Legend: What about Shinji punching Toji as Strength? (You suggested Toji punching Shinji for that and Justice.)

Crap. You actually have it backwards from what I *meant*, SSD. Toji punching Shinji IS supposed to be strength. Shinji punching Toji is Justice.

Toji punching Shinji vs. Shinji punching Toji? I thought that the latter scene was off-screen? Anyway, both of them would be similar enough to cause confusion.

I think the positron rifle being fired upon Ramiel should be put for "Justice" or as an alternative for "Death" if the N2 explosion isn't good enough. Another excellent choice for "Justice" would be Eva-01 holding Sachiel's broken ribs and raising them as she prepares to bring them down on his core.

IX: The Hermit- A man deep in a dark cave, bearing a lantern. Fuyutsuki
X:Fortune- The cycle of good and bad, blessing follows disaster which follows blessing. The Secret Dead Sea Scrolls.
XI:Strength- A terrifying beast, held back by a small child. Unit 01
XII:The Hanged Man- Someone who gave up everything for the sake on enlightenment, wether it was worth it or not. Ryoko
XIII: Death- the Grim Reaper. who brings about great change both good and bad. Kaworu.
XIV:Temperence- A Maiden, combing red and blue in perfect harmony. The Entry Plug
XV: The Devil- The wicked beast who chains its victims in their own selfish, violent impulses. Berserk Unit 01.
XVI: The Tower- A symbol of pride, and a portent of doom. NERV pyramid.
XVII:The Star- A young girl who symbolises hope and peace to come. Hikari.
XVIII: The Moon- Symbol of dreams and madness, fantasy and trickery. Rei.
XIX: The Sun-Symbol of energy, optimism and accomplishment. Asuka.
XX: Judgement- The end of days, the time of judgement when everything comes to an end. GGNR, absorbing everyone's souls in Third Impact.
XXI: The World- A naked woman, surrounded by representitives of all things that are. Unit 01, and the MP Eva's forming the Tree of Sephirot.
The Fool- A young man dancing on the cliff's edge, a dog at his heels. An innocent destined for greater things, be it triumph or disgrace, enlightenment or insanity. Shinji

Actually, my card for Justice is Sachiel's death. It's kind of weird, but I like the exploding crosses.

Also, tarot cards don't specifically have to look like anything.

Ooh, I would love to have one of those! I kind of collect Tarot decks (I also use it for meditation once in a while), and I've been hoping someone would design an Evangelion Tarot.

Ok, I'm done! I liked how these turned out, although there's not really a unifying visual theme between them. But, anyways:



0: THE FOOL - Shinji

BEGINNING/FOLLY/IDEALS/SEARCH OF MEANING

There's no need for explanation of why I chose Shinji for this "card."



I: THE MAGICIAN - Penpen

ACTION/POWER/SELF-CONFIDENCE/CREATIVITY

Penpen really doesn't fit, but I couldn't think of any more characters, and he makes a nice fit with the next card. But we all know Penpen is the embodiment of "power", right?



II: THE HIGH PREISTESS - Misato

LOVE/WISDOM/INTUITION/MYSTERY

See, it does fit, doesn't it? Despite being a main character, it took me a long time to find a good image of her.



III: THE EMPRESS - Ritsuko

MOTHERING/BEAUTY/POWER/NATURE

This was at the suggestion of Legendary. There were really no good shots of her in the movie at all.



IV: THE EMPEROR - Gendou

FATHERING/DISCIPLINE/ORDER/STABILITY

Like with Shinji, there's no need for an explanation for this one either. I really like the coloring.



V: THE HEIROPHANT - SEELE

EDUCATION/TRADITION/THE GROUP/DECEPTION

SEELE is a perfect fit, but I couldn't get a better shot of their monoliths.



VI: THE LOVERS - Rei and Shinji

RELATIONSHIPS/BONDING/VALUES/CONNECTION

This wonderful idea is from Sailor Star Dust. I don't really view Shinji and Rei as a couple, but the card has non-romantic implications.



VII: THE CHARIOT - Eva-01

WILLPOWER/BRAVERY/VICTORY/HONOR

Eva-01 is literally "the chariot" for Shinji's actions. The original picture was really dark (even more so than 1.01 already was), so it took me a long time to figure out how to lighten it correctly.



VIII: JUSTICE - Death of Sachiel

DECISION/RESPONSIBILITY/STRENGTH/JUSTICE (!!)

Objectively, it's not really "justice", but I love this shot.



IX: THE HERMIT - Fuyutsuki

INTROSPECTION/REASON/GUIDANCE/ISOLATION

The idea for this was also from Legendary.



X: WHEEL OF FORTUNE - Remiel

DESTINY/TURNING POINT/SURPRISE/OPPORTUNITY

I also liked how the coloring for this turned out. It looks really different from the original image.

XI - XXI are coming later.
