Didn't see it yet, was it better than Tri 06?

Haven't finished all of Tri yet but given what critics and longtime fans have said about it, probably not a big loss.

BTW, out of all the songs that the first few seasons of the English dub, I love "Run Around" the most. Not just the original but any cover version I can hear anywhere.

Thanks to a friend, I've been slowly making my way through a lot of it. Saw all of OG Adventure months ago, currently clawing my way through Zero Two.

It's been an interesting experience. I don't have any childhood nostalgia, so I've been plowing through episodes with no fondness or longing for childhood. And there's a lot that works. Feels like an anime version of Alice in Wonderland in some way.

Hopefully I'll find more surprises as I dig deeper. So far the things that really impressed me were the first 3 movies.

One time I saw the Tamers second non-canon movie where they try to stop a Digimon train from crashing into somewhere that would be lethal. I liked it even though because it's non-canon, the obvious Takato/Rika chemistry taking place feels like a missed opportunity.

Pfft, why would he want to be with Rika? Jeri/Juri's got hand puppets!

And a more relatable backstory where mom isn't a runnaway success, but a prostitut-- oh no wait, they cut that part out.

... I think she's dead. Just like Leomon.

Oh well, it was more due in part to the very limited knowledge I had of Tamers since I didn't see much except an episode where the school teacher and the co-worker has a crush on her are attacked at night by bad Digimon, I don't even remember which. One thing I definitely noticed was that the female teacher was voiced at the time by Lara Jill Miller who was the original dub voice of Kari, Tai's little sister.

Pretty sure the Dub manufactured that first part.

In the Japanese audio the Teacher hates her job and is having a motivation crisis because of it. I think the coworker takes notice.

This film was terrific, Last Kizuna made good use of a Digidestined-as-villian.

Some plot notes:
SPOILER: Show
I'm not clear why [the villian] can't just go see her old partner in the digital world. There's no reason the latter would be dead, and even if Izzy hadn't already done it, she has (also) solved the problem of needing to travel to the Digital World without a D3 digivice.

And I know there's something that addresses it, but Sora not fighting seems like a **** move. Bidramon as a bulky flier with a ranged attack is a staple in combat, even Tri made this clear.

But my only real complaint is that the new digivolutions didn't get much time to shine.

I also watched 02: The Beginning. It had a decent, if heavy, story. It explores further dark angles for how a digidestined -- digimon relationship could fall apart rather well.

But a recurring problem with the film was that the main 02 cast, the people were actually here to see, weren't given any focus. The director stated this story could only be told with the 02 cast, but I just don't see it. Iori gets no moments to himself, nor does Ken beyond vibing with Yoli... which seems like a missed opportunity given how well he could have related to what Lui was going through.

This felt a lot like Pokemon films where Ash stumbles upon someone else having a plot, and tags along. We get some fan service, but even this was better done for the 02 cast in Last Kizuna, where they were the B plot.

They also didn't have a "real" fight. Imperialdramon pulls off all these close-in impressive maneuvers when it first appears, flying around the city to avoid... nothing. And the non-fight finale lasts like 2 minutes, tops?

Oh well. At least they avoided Tri's annoying knack for ass shots. And bad animation.

The most exciting part about watching that film, was realizing this leaves the door open for a 3rd film to be coincidentally released in 2027 (when the 02 epilogue takes place).

Something to sum everything up. To finally give everyone a digimon, and fill-in what Gennai was hinting at when he asked Tai about his infinite potential.

I look forward to it.

I recently rewatched the first three series of Digimon plus their respective films in the appropriate points, I was dealing with a bad back so I had a couple of weeks to burn resting, so I ended up doing intervals of three episodes (hour of course) and then doing my stretches, worked a treat.
This was the first time I've done a serious rewatch of the show since they came out in the West well over twenty years ago now, it was also the first time I viewed them subbed, it was fun and quite eye opening.
To sum it up the first and third series are excellent, the second series is good, troublesome at times but it's not the trashfire some make it out to be.

In retrospect I can completely understand how I was obsessed with this franchise, it has everything to spark the imagination of child, animations were seared into my mind, I'm glad on rewatch they were just as impressive as I remembered.
02 sags in parts, but when it tries it goes hard, they hammered the transformation sequences which becomes burdensome, but hearing "Break Up!"somehow made the experience bearable, the show itself manages to mix things up just enough that it doesn't completely break down into the formulaic, which was something I was concerned I'd experience with it going off of my own memory of the show.
I fully intend to watch the other series and I will post my thoughts on here if (If I remember).
