How on earth?

In episode 08, how do Shinji/Asuka get between the ships? They land on the aircraft carrier but somehow get over to the ship that's transporting unit 02.

They seem to be standing on some kind of escalator for a while. Is there some kind of underwater bridge between ships? This has stumped me for a long time. Excuse my forum newbiness. I am new.

Hey, never noticed that before. Good eye, Ornette.

Given that Asuka's supposed to be a genius and a brilliant Eva pilot it wouldn't surprise me if she could handle a helicopter, if only for the 60 seconds it would take to hop ships.

Or y'know they mucked the continuity up a little...
And all the world over each nation's the same/They've simply no notion of playing the game
They argue with umpires/They cheer when they've won
And they practice beforehand which ruins the fun!

Or Asuka just walked up to someone on the flight deck and said she needed to check on her Eva for some reason, and a pilot was assigned for the requested taxi service.

Well look at that...

They didn't "show" her getting there but clearly she got there, so I guess we just leave it at that. Only so many minutes in an episode and they wanted to focus on other scenes.

Misato, Shinji and the classmates at least were dropped off to the ship(s) in a helicopter, so I'm guessing Asuka was in the same situation, considering what the screencap shows. (Kaji also took a helicopter to get the heck out of the area.)

And IIRC, episode 22' shows a shot of some planes/aircrafts sitting outside the ship during the flashback of Asuka's failed seduction with Kaji.

In hindsight my question seems pretty dumb, considering that helicopter was in pretty plain view.

...underwater bridge...what was I thinking?

No, it was a Yak-38 special AND DON'T FORGET IT! :fistshake:

Rebuid  SPOILER: Show
You're probably thinking of Rebuild, but for the life of me, I'm not sure, and its just one of those things I'm having a hard as hell of a time checking up on since all these minor details are so out of order compared to the original series.

An interesting choice, since the Yak-38 wasn't really a successful aircraft and was already retired from service in 1991...

Isn't Asuka also a captain in the Air Force or something? So the helicopter thing isn't extremely far fetched at all.

You're thinking of that imposter from Rebuild 2.0 there.

BUT IT'S COOL. And definitely a lot more interesting than a Harrier or something like that.

"interesting" if you mean a total death trap even the pilots hated flying in.

The reason it's there to begin with is because the aircraft themselves are of largely Russian design, the fighters EVA-02 was pushing off the deck seemed to be some Sukhoi model. :blahblah:

Its planned successor, the Yak-141, would have been even cooler. :toothy:
