Rebuild 1.0 and 2.0 showing in Australia!

I'm not sure if this has already been mentioned somewhere, but someone in the Rebuild thread on SomethingAwful linked to this yesterday, an AnimeNewsNetwork article announcing that Rebuild 1.0 and 2.0 are both going to be showing at Madman Entertainment's "Reel Anime" this year.

Madman's site for it (linked in the article) is currently only showing info from last year so I have no idea about the specifics, but hearing that 2.0 is going to be shown somewhere outside of Japan this year sounds like good news to me, even though I'm on the wrong continent to see it. ;)

Them Australians got it pretty good. I still don't see why a simultaneous release globally can't be arranged or would that require more money from Gainax?

Because that's not how things work. Every region/language secures. Their own rights to distribute.

hmm. I know last year 1.0 screened in gold class at crown. (I went as saw it :) ). Still this is news to me also makes me wonder now if madman will get the distribution rights for 2.0 instead of redant. Only thing that im a little concerned about is the effect ADV kicking the bucked will have on the distribution of the original series.

@(not)toji: If they are going to officially show it in a non-jap speaking country, wouldn't it make sense to have an offical sub as well? Simple logic, man. I'm sure that it will be decent. If not...Well, what can we do about it?

Well, Last year's Reel Anime took place in select cinemas in all major cities.

They were: Sydney @ Dendy Newtown
Perth @ Luna Leederville
Adelaide @ Palace Nova
Melbourne @ Kino Cinemas
Brisbane @ Dendy George St
Canberra @ Dendy Canberra

That's what happened in 2008. I see no reason why that would change this year.

Yep all go to that same movie theater and enjoy the fact that we are watching 2.0 Sorry NAW but my camera is in Sydney and I doubt ill'd be able to get in in here. I'm sure all you guys are happy with the crappy cam rip anyway.

to all you americans out there, You have no idea about how Irritating it is to have to wait months and months and months after every other english speaking country gets to watch these movies and having to desperatly resist the tempation to spoil yourself. So you can, for once, live with putting up for a bit longer.

Um, I'm not sure what you mean because the states have the same problem as you guys do, especially with 2.0. 1.0 for example was only screened at some international film festivals instead of anywhere in the States, IIRC.

Case in point: it seems 2.0 is being shown everywhere else BUT the U.S. which is part (I think at least) the reason why some people are resorting to that crappy cam-rip; though also there is the factor of wanting to see the darn film instead of just staying spoiler-free. :sweatdrop:

Tequila refers to every other piece of media in existence that comes out sometimes as much as a year earlier in the states before we can get our PAL version, not to mention the number of games that never get a PAL release
