Fixed, also Shikaji now here there is nothing to fear.

Expect apparently someone is using the Rei cloner in a smart way.

Poor Misato is 10 years older.

Maya has a key to Rits closet and has been stealing her clothes ( hint hint)

Loli Rei likes Phallic symbols

And random NERV chick likes flashing people.
I won.

There's some information on the Japanese version of wikipedia if anybody's interested:

Here's something interesting: According to the Wikipedia page, the three Reis present in ANIMA are not the original Rei. They are all clones of the first-- erm, third one. Google Translate called them "Ray Quatre", "Ray Thunk", and "Rei System". It took me a while to realize that Google was trying to make sense of the French in all of them: they are Rei Quatre, Rei Cinq, and Rei Six. I have no idea as to why they started calling them French numbers. Probably for the same reason they started numbering the Buster machines in French.

It appears that Rei III is still alive, though, and 17.

Still alive instead of a spirit with funky quantum physics powers eh? That works.

Apparently it's a "real robots" take on the NGE universe.

Cool.

Hello ladies and gentlemen.

It annoyed me that noone actually scanned anything of the ANIMA other than the character pages, so I went out and hunted down the magazines. I only know katakana so that's not enough to actually translate it, but at the very least I can provide the raws so that someone else may translate.

From what I know so far, the initial announcement appeared in the November 2007 issue of Dengeki Hobby, the main feature started in December and keeps coming monthly to this day. So far I've managed to aquire June to October 2008 issues of Dengeki, all full of awesome that I'll be scanning in the next few weeks depending on how much schoolwork I have. If things go as planned I'll be aquiring December 2007 + January to May of 2008 next weekend and I'll have all but the latest two chapters.

I'll be releasing the raws regardless of whether a translator approaches me or not, but I think it would be best for everyone if the person doing it is bother skilled in the moon language arts as well as Eva lore.

have a sample:

Much awesomeness, TM. I can't wait to see them. :D (Where have you been picking up the magazines?)

If nothing else, the additional scans may generate interest that wasn't there before. I'm not qualified enough to tackle Anima, unfortunately; Yamashita's writing is generally incomprehensible to me.

Dengeki Hobby magazines are usually available in most hobby stores that have a section for Japanese plamo. Some anime stores carry them too. Unfortunately in the Greater Toronto Area, most people ridiculously overprice these magazines, usually between 3-4 times the yen price. I've been fortunate enough to find the older issues at only twice the yen price, which would be about the same if I ordered them online since they weight a ton.

I've finished scanning a random chapter today, so here you go:

http://www.megaupload.com/?d=T5R7YLCE

Hopefully by Christmas I'll have the raws all the available chapters out.

thanks for scanning!

It would be good if we could get a scanlation team going to translate these. ANIMA is a very interesting (though slightly confusing) concept!

also, i read a few pages back that there was a scan of Kaworu floating about? does anyone happen to have it?.. i'm curious to what he may look like.. un-dead and 3 years older :/

Thanks so much TM! ^_^

I know *some* Japanese, but probably not enough to translate something like this (besides, I'm busy enough as is and have another project in mind).

Am I the only one who thinks Armaros (who is named after a fallen Angel from the Book of Enoch, BTW) is very reminiscent of Sauron from the Peter Jackson LotR trilogy? Armaros is the blackish mecha with the big ol' vertical halo.

This is great! Even if it takes a while for someone in the big wide internets to translate it just being able to look at the pictures is at least a start.

This is totally cool, and I hope you keep scanning them. Theoretically speaking, I could translate these at the cost of my sanity and way too much time. I mean from what I've seen, one page would easily take an hour at least to translate correctly. If more people who can read Japanese came on board as well (and I mean people who actually understand the language, not thinks they can because they watch animu, but actually knows the intricacies) I would be all over it with them. This is a 72-ounce steak that needs more than one fat man to tackle. Until then, I really hope you keep scanning these, they are actually somewhat fascinating from what I've read so far -in a fan-fictiony sort of way- as well as pointlessly didactic and needlessly long-winded as is the case with most Japanese writers.

June 2008

http://www.megaupload.com/?d=1QRP2J6G

and with this I know that given the usual amount of distractions I can scan 3 chapters a day. You probably won't hear from me for the next 4 weeks (lol, finals) so enjoy.

wheeeeeeeee

November 2008: http://www.megaupload.com/?d=POB5WKPK

December 2008: http://www.megaupload.com/?d=8EEOKDCH

got a little bored so quickly scanned these. November is interesting because it points out that the Angel Carriers and that Eva on the moon share the same "Enigma Parts", and December is just plain kickass.
