Yeah of all the nerve. Of course if Funimation was actually at fault here i would be pretty pissed too.... But yeah so far the theater's projector is more likely to blame.....And their incompetent staff. :smirk:

The Vancouver showing was crystal clear. The staff actually ran a few minutes of the Bleach movie (they apologized for this) so they could balance the color settings for anime before 1.0 started. So yeah, I guess it's a matter of competence.

Alright. I revisited my local theater and made several complaints about the issues suffered on Wednesday. I got a reply back from one of the managers there who was nice enough to give me free entry into the second and last day of the Eva 1.0 screening.

So yeah 10 am today in the morning i managed to visit my local theater. Turns out after much testing the blame fell on the damn projector they were using. They promptly had it replaced. Since Funimation's Eva 1.0 disc was supposedly in High Def, they played it using a blu ray player. By god what a world of difference this time around. All the colours were normal and flashy. And the projector they were using this time was actually projecting a clear picture.

Ontop of that i also got a whole bunch of free passes for my friends that didnt make it to the second screening. Guess thats some redemption for you there.....

I'll give my own impressions on the dub itself a bit later.... YES.....Justice has been served!!!

It's a shame you had deal with what you deal with in the first place.

Yeah the worst thing about was that i wasnt really able to impress my 5 buddies/close friends who joined me that night. Thanks to the damn shitty presentation we had the film was partially ruined. Though we did have some laughs with the dub. Nice.... :smirk:

I might consider renting out an auditorium one day at a different theater and have them screen 1.11 on blu ray for my friends again. That would be ideal.

Yeah just give her some time. I have a feeling I will become very fond of her performance, but alas we shall see what happens in Rebuild (and to the dubbing rights too I bet)

Only seen about 45 minutes of the dub and so far -

Misato and Shinji - A lot better. Especially Misato.

Ritsuko - No more Texan accent!!!

Eva 01 - There's the original Berserker screams underneath of the new screams. It creates this neat sort of effect.

Kensuke - New voice caught me off guard.

Gendo and Fuyu - I didn't have trouble distinguishing the two. I know others did.

OTHER STUFF
- There seems to be flanger or something on all the voices in the Entry Plug.
- Technobabble sounds great.

Well, I suppose that's good...I really, really liked the original ones (much more than the dubs), so hopefully these will sound good as well.

The first 9 minutes, legal streaming at Youtube/Funimation:

We watched 'The Lion King' in my math class once. After it was over, the teacher passed out worksheets that said: "If the circle of life had a diamter of 46 inches..."

Old Gendo is old... But it seems a fair dub from what I can tell from that short clip.
Neon Genesis Evangelion (from the Greek Ευανγελιον, meaning "Gigantic robots piloted by mentally ill children")
Eva Facts:
-Gendo's final silenced line to Ritsuko was "I'm going to shoot you now."
-Nagisa Kaworu kills a kitten every time you masturbate.
-Kaji's first and last name was Kaji

Eh. I'll stick with the sub.
But more importantly: naughty naughty Funimation, ramping up the brightness of the preview clip to compensate for the contrast issues (which are still present on the DVD).
