Awesome, it's great that your local theater is so responsive! I should talk to the art-house cinema in Portland...

EDIT - http://www.livingroomtheaters.com/nowplaying.html#evangelion

looks like they're playing it!

Uh...doesn't 1080p mean that the image is 1920x1080? In other words, while your screen is technically larger than the video, no size alterations occur?

Yep. Good point. So an up-bridge would occur. I misread resolution as 1920x1440!

Still, obscenely high. Not 13.1. Argument still stands up well.

Whoa. Blu-Ray is not > 35mm. Not even close.

I'm starting to get nervous about the Chicago screening. Has anyone talked to Piper's Alley or the Landmark about doing it?

Any more news about this?

I sent them a friendly and brief email a week or so ago, I know that's not going to change their minds in itself but getting a (few) dozen like it might.

I completely agree. But if it were digital projection and not 35mm, you also have to consider the angle of it being a showing that you can go to with other fans. There's only been a few times I've ever been able to seriously watch Evangelion with other people, and it is so much more enjoyable than watching by myself, which is usually the case.

Has anyone who emailed the theater heard anything about this still playing?

I went to their website, checked their showtimes and Fall schedule, but I didn't see anything. Did they cancel it in Chicago?

About the woman you clasp in your arms, can you say with certainty that she does not feign pleasure? About the woman you mistreat, are you quite sure that from abuse she does not derive some obscure and lascivious satisfaction? Let us confine ourselves to simple evidence: through thoughtfulness, gentleness, concern for the feelings of others we saddle our own pleasure with restrictions, and make this sacrifice to obtain a doubtful result." -The Divine Marquis

Thanks. I updated the front page. Also, I think it's funny they used that fake fan-made LAEM poster on the Evangelion page.

Why didn't the Music Box use the (well-known, or so I thought) poster of everyone on the staircase? Because most of it isn't in English? I wouldn't think that would even phase them or their clientele.

Anyway, definitely didn't expect anything more to come of this so I'm really pleased, to say the least. Will these be in Japanese audio with subtitles or dubbed?

So this is in less than one week but there's no information on the theater's website about it. Is this really happening?

Ha. People seem to continue to think that Gainax was the primary studio behind the new Eva movies. LOL. I wonder if this small issue irks Anno if anything. Here he is trying to make a name for himself with his brand spanking new Studio and people are still talking about Gainax instead of his Khara.....

But Gainax is the one laughing the way to the bank.

Just called the theater and they don't know anything about it. "Well, there's nothing on the board about it yet. But these things just creep up, you never know."

Okay then.

I have a suspicion that Funimation just rented this theater for the night to screen the film, which is why the Landmark isn't advertising it.

I'll give them a call tomorrow and see if there is any updates. Still, if I'm correct you'd think Funimation would have show times listed on their site... Very weird. At least Musicbox still has it actually listed on their site, wrong poster and all...

*sigh* It ain't easy being an Eva fan.
