Okay, so some fellow EGFers and I have been discussing things in #egf-rebuild about the film.

A 4chan thread has this image, which supposedly deals with the cover to the soon to be released Eva Extra issue 04.



Warning text says: "Do not open this until you've seen the movie."

Speculation has been that the image in question (which is strikingly similar to the scene in EoE of Spear of Longinus right against Eva-01's neck) is either Lilith's original Spear, if in Central Dogma, Lilith is speared with Adam's spear, or something that's from the FAR. Of course, this is what 4chan is saying so I'm not sure what the Japanese fans thing. Or that maybe it's an Ax of Longinus??

Speaking of which, 2chan.net has this thread about 2.0 impressions that keep on saying something about "not official" images (with a link to that image collage from that one 2.0 trailer), whatever the hell THAT means.

Ahahahaha oh wow. 4chan and 2chan are going ballistic with this shit about 2.0. Of course, trolls on either side abound, saying things like:

Supposedly, Toji dies and Asuka has an ambiguous scene that she MIGHT die? (I'm thinking Zeruel battle that will be cleared up in 3.0 whether or not she's alive, personally.)

I can buy both those spoilers. The first should've happened in the TV show in the first place and the second makes for dramatic storytelling and only will make the long wait for 3.0 even more unbearable.

It's just a rumor for now, so take EVERYTHING that you see until Ornette says otherwise with a HUGE grain of salt.

Translations suggest that Toji goes to see his sister instead of piloting Eva-03, forcing Asuka to be the tester. She gets mental contamination (perhaps this Rebuild's mindrape sequence from Episode 22? no evidence) and Eva-01/Shinji act like they do in Episode 18. After the battle, Asuka is put in isolation.

Though I did read that Mari's introduction is Shinji's on the school roof and she parachutes down. If that were to happen not only will I laugh tears of awesomeness but Eva will finally have a character who is through and through COOL.

I know that the term comes from the original series, but in the really old scripts for NGE, Asuka and the rest of the world suffer "mental contamination" and turn into werewolves. That's what it reminded me of- and I'm being serious about the werewolf part.
