Celebrity RIP Thread

Yeah. You read right. This is for everything that doesn't have anything to do with Eva.

Sorry this is so late, but since no one seems to have mentioned it here we lost Christine McVie of Fleetwood Mac on Nov. 30th and David Crosby of The Byrds and Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young on Jan. 18th. I've always thought that Christine McVie was badly underrated; I actually like her songs better than Stevie Nicks' songs. David Crosby had my favorite voice in CSN&Y. I found it very soothing and relaxing. When I listen to a David Crosby song, all my cares and worries seem to melt away.
Rejoice, glory is ours. Our young men have not died in vain. Their graves need no flowers. The tapes have recorded their names.
I am all there is.
Negative! Primative! Limited! I let you live.
But I gave you life.
What else could you do?
To do what was right.
I'm perfect, are you?

Somewhat belatedly, news reaches me of the death of David McCallum at age 90. I show my age and detachment from media in thinking of him as Ilya Kuryakin first and foremost.

Matthew Perry has died at 54.

This one depresses me. I loved what he did in Friends growing up, and more recently I played Fallout: New Vegas for the first time and really enjoyed him as Benny in that. Kinda hard for me to imagine him just being gone. Drowning just seems like such a horrible way to go too.

Two reports in one day

Frank Borman, who captained the first manned mission to the Moon (though not the first mission with a landing), 55 years ago this Christmas.

Thunderbirds director David Elliott, who oversaw such episodes as Vault of Death, The Duchess Assignment, Cry Wolf, and 30 Minutes After Noon, has died at the age of 92. David’s other Supermarionation credits include Stingray, Fireball XL5 and Supercar.

RIP David Bordwell, almost certainly the greatest film studies academic in the English language.

I'm really, really sad with this news.
RIP Mr. Toriyama. Thank you for creating so many worlds deeply important to us. Thank you for creating my favorite manga. You were young and there were a lot of projects you couldn't finish. But I hope you're doing well in the other world now :sniffle:
Just sit here and waste your precious time. When you want to do something, don't do it right away. Don't do it when you can. Read my posts instead. It's the only way to live a life without regrets.

It really is terrible. He was still so very young and right in the middle of new and exciting projects.

There are *many* other creators we will likely see tributes from before long, including Anno.

Looks like Felipe beat me to it, this is the only reason I'm here today.

He was the Very Voice of God; Darth Vader's Voice of Dark Side Doom; Mufasa's Voice of Paternal Majesty. He was a trailblazing actor with a career spanning seven decades, and his legacy is one that very few can equal. That great talent is no more, that mighty voice is silent. Farewell, James Earl Jones, and May the Force Be With You in the Afterlife.

Maggie Smith dead at 89. I (and probably most folks here) best knew her as Professor McGonagall, but her career spans seven decades and she was one of the finest actresses of her era. Rest in Peace, Dame Maggie Smith.
