LCL acronym

http://wiki.evageeks.org/LCL wrote: * It is unknown what the initials "LCL" stand for, but we do know what they don't mean. According to the Evangelion: Death and Rebirth theatrical program (special edition):

"Incidentally, the widely circulated idea that L.C.L is the abbreviation of "Link Connected Liquid" is incorrect."

However, nowhere does it say what it does mean. Why they would go out of their way to say what it doesn't stand for, but not go on to explain what it does stand for, is unknown, and a cause of much fan frustration. Evangelion Chronicle suggests that one of the Ls stands for "Lilith".

Uhh, has anything been found since Chronicle mentioned the above that would support the old fan theory about how L.C.L means "Lilith's Creation Liquid"? Or at least has there been anything in another source that finally tells us what L.C.L DOES stand for? I think that Lilith's Creation Liquid would make the most sense, at any rate... Maybe Eva Extra sheds some light on this, depending on just what that paper discusses (if it's not just Rebuild of Eva stuff)?

"Lilith's Creation Liquid" could work, but I've always supported the suggestion that it was "Life Component Liquid" since it makes the most sense and sounds applicable.

I think "Life Component Liquid" makes more sense than "Lilith's Creation Liquid" as well. It also sounds less awkward.

What extra stuff have you found?

The "L" could also stand for left-handed, since the amino acids that make up life on earth have a left-handed molecular structure. For example, the amino acid glutamine always occurs as L-glutamine in nature, but artificially synthesized glutamine is an even mix of L-glutamine and D-glutamine.

So LCL could be "Left-handed C of Life" -- I'm just kidding about the C, but you know that those guys at Gainax have a sense of humor.

The fact that life on earth only uses left-handed amino acids is one of those fun facts that Anno might have known about.

I honestly can't think of any publications made since Chronicle that would go out of their way to delve into what "LCL" stands for... (Well, there's those zillions of Eva magazines that are being put out right now, but something in me presupposes they're not going to be that helpful.)

Eva Extra is just promotional crap for 2.0.

There's also AchtunAffen's rather pithy suggestion based on the source.

@Reichu
If it's not a bother, could you find and post the bit in Chronicle that 'suggests that one of the Ls stands for "Lilith"'

It's at the top of the page in quotes, unless you mean where it was officially stated.

Yeah, I mean the actual quote as published in Chronicle.

That's what I was thinking, or some slight variation. :toothy:

Lilith's Creation Liquid or Life Component Liquid, either or is the best bet.

It is well established that we are both geniuses, so it's not surprising we would both think of that.

It stands for Lauren Conrad Liquid. We've already established this.

SSD, you're a moderator. You're supposed to insult them and threaten them.

I'll put the source up when I get home tonight.

Reichu: I was hoping that previous post would get the point across.

Thanks for posting the source.
