Hey guys, people keep forgetting THIS reason why 3I can't happen at 2.0's end:

SSD: He says that before Ramiel is defeated, yes? So there's only 7, right? Make the clock Angel a pair of twins ala Israfel, and include Kaworu in the reckoning and you have 7.

They also might not be showing us a sixth Angel in the previews to save a surprise and make people go, "Wha-?"

Do the Lilin count for the list of remaining angels?

Obviously not, unless Gendo plans to kill all humanity.

Will Kaworu even be classified as an Angel this time around? Even if he turns out to be the final Angel, he won't attack until next episode at least.

Five confirmed Angels, yes. A sixth one might be stretching it, assuming that we have ninety minutes of show time and one new character.

Five Angels are stretching it, a lot.

Israfel only counted as one on Seele's list.

Know what would be awesome. Zeruel singlehandedly kicks 00, 01, 02, 03, 05 and 06s' collective asses, and starts 3rd Impact. No need for any other angels.

kinda makes me think they'll use the Proposal ending (?) for 4.0 and have more angels come down from the moon. :/

I meant more in the sense that there were two bodies attacking simultaneously and in coordination than one Angel with amazing mitosis powers.

Israfel could have been literal twins (with amazing powers of twincest), and still got counted as one. The Angel numbering system can be kind of arbitrary when it wants to be. For example, Lilin is counted as a single Angel. (Going by that kind of logic, all of Adam's kids should be a single Angel, as well. But whatever.)

If the coffins are, as some suspect, the devices that release the Angels in Webuild, then the counting system wouldn't be arbitrary. One Angel emerges from one coffin, another from a different one. The fact that they look alike wouldn't matter since the coffin number is the number they'd be basing their facts on.

Not sure what you're trying to demonstrate with the coffin thing. It's still a fan-theory supported only by tenuous circumstantial evidence. There just isn't enough information at this point. [/rumor control]

Your idea also involves making assumptions about the form of whatever is inside the coffin. Last time, anyway, the Angels were enclosed in eggy-things, and twins emerge from the same egg. Granted, they don't have to be in eggs this time, but those coffins could also have nothing to do with embryonic Angels, and there could also just be 5 Angels in the second film. And "Second Impact" could just be mentioned in passing by Seele and Kaworu in the last five minutes.

I was going to continue ranting about how retarded the coffin thing will be if it ends up being true, but may as well try to stay on topic...

And don't forget even though there are 7 Angels left to defeat I highly doubt the film will let Adam, Lilith, and the missing 3rd Angel never have a role to play in the overall narrative.

Just because the original series got through all of the angels doesn't mean this one necessarily does as well...

I don't really believe that, but, anything to throw you through a loop.

Since Leliel won't appear, maybe it's the tunnel angel that destroys Unit 04.

He shuddered a bit, remembering the somewhat creepy level of detail Kaji had gone into, while rubbing a watermelon in a disturbingly sexual way.

In the Next Time Preview, Eva-04 is shown as getting blown up similar to what happened in Nevada in the original series.

Unless you meant 05 or 06?

Ah, never mind. I thought Leliel swallowed up Unit 04, for some reason. But it was just the Sea of Dirac, not Leliel.

They said 04 *might* have been swallowed by a Sea of Dirac. I think it just happened shortly after the Leliel thing, so I think they were just throwing the phrase around since they learned it and probably wouldn't get to use it again. Looks to me like the thing just blew up.

Big shadow, vs. big bright explosion. Yep, it's probably the same thing.

Leliel is connected to a Dirac Sea. Ritsuko never said it literally WAS one in three-dimensional space.

I think they are going to make the angles attack in teams. At least I hope so...

There's going to be more evas to handle the invasions so why not give the show a bigger thrill and let the angels attack in pairs or even bigger groups.

That would be a hell of an epic battle, 4 angels on 4 evas, and look how much time it would spare for some character development.
