Still think they should just say "Directed by Avi Arad & Laura Ziskin". They didn't let Raimi make a single decision on Spider-man 3 and after two years of pre-production made him so frustrated he quit the franchise. No way in hell are they gonna let Marc Webb make any decisions even down to specific shots without it going through their "vision".

Not a double post but a new observation.
Apparently, considering the rather expensive budgets for superhero movies Sony is doing this film on the cheap (relatively). Though that won't stop them from making it in 3D and charging extra for ticket.

The next Spider-man is going to have a budget around $80 million in comparison to the $140-260 million budget for the Raimi films. What this makes me think is that these films might not even shoot in New York City. The costs of shutting down main streets in NYC for several hours to shoot scenes in the previous three Spidey films where some of the key issues that cost the films to have such high budgets.
This is an interesting development....and shows Sony has found the perfect way to promise themselves record high profits in 2012.

^DO NOT WANT
sorry, High School Musical fanboys/girls, if that happens I now hope Joel Schumacher gets involved and he does the spiritual sequel to Batman and Robin
that bomb in the making will teach Sony the hard way about what happens when you try to sell out to the lowest common denominator, it's too bad they couldn't learn what WB learned with Batman and Robin

Peter Parker = angst-ridden teenage high schooler with super powers.
Zach Efron can play angst-ridden teenage high schooler. Add super powers.
...I don't see a problem.
I probably wouldn't watch it, but it's not like they're casting Tyra Banks as Mary Jane. There are worse choices.
Rumor is rumor anyway. I don't see a need to get bent outta shape over something so unsubstantiated.

Andrew Garfield- an actor I really respect, has been cast as Peter Parker. He's British so hopefully his American accent is good (we'll find out in David Fincher's The Social Network later this year).
Though at 27 he's a bit old to be a high schooler.
Oh well, as far as the actor for Parker is concerned it's a step in the right direction (though I still think a reboot in general is pretty stupid).
And as for the villain it hasn't been officially confirmed yet but all signs right now are pointing towards The Lizard.

I think they are trying to indirectly channel the powers/formula of Christian Bale right there with that Marc Webb character trying to indirectly channel the formula of Christopher Nolan with Disney (now in control of Marvel) in conjunction with Sony trying to channel TDK-sized box office goldGendo'sPapa wrote:Andrew Garfield- an actor I really respect, has been cast as Peter Parker. age is not a huge issue, Michael J. Fox was pushing 30 by the time Back to the Future Parts II and III were made

personally, i'm so sick of this movie already and it hasn't even been filmed yet. i have no love for spidey-- and even so, i really liked the first two tobey mcguire movies. but by now i just feel hollywood just doesn't know when to quit.
*meanwhile, will be the first in line to buy tickets for the x-men: first class movie.* /hypocrisy.

bittersweet ending: episode 24. the angels are gone and mankind is safe... but tokyo-3 has been ruined; Kaji is dead; toji is a cripple; kensuke, hikari, and their families have moved away, taking pen-pen with them; Asuka is catatonic; ritsuko is in prison; Misato is a nervous wreck; Rei is "the third one"; and Shinji is utterly broken psychologically after having to kill the only person who has offered him unconditional love in the course of the whole series. come the movie? don't worry! it gets worse! ~from the source of all wisdom in the world.
