What would you call yourself in terms of liking Evangelion? Casual or Geek or Obsessed?

I'm a big fan. I'm not over the top, but I discuss the series regularly in real life and I own all the epsiodes, and a good amount of action figures.

I own the series and just bought the movie, but don't own any figures. Yet.

Probably somewhere in between casual and geek.

When I first got into, Eva, I was completely obsessed. Action figures, videos, DVDs, manga, models, posters, pictures printed off the internet covering my walls, a T-shirt, fanart I drew, you name it. Then I completely forgot it existed.

Now I'm obsessed again but in a different way. My collection of Eva merch has thinned a lot but now I spend all of my time making connections between Eva and nearly every aspect of my life. I think about it almost all the time. And I had been doing such a good job staying grounded in reality too.

I'm obsessed, but it doesn't effect the other parts of my personal life. Although lately, it's kinda been going away. Maybe since I've recently started watching a more variety of anime.

I'm somewhere in between casual and geek also. I have been a fan since 1996 at the age of five, and I still love the series today but it not my #1 favorite thing in life though since I'm fan of other series also.

Evangelion and I have been going steady for a while. Over nine years now. The days of passion, they're more or less gone. But there's a lot of dedication. I have flings on the side, but when they're over, NGE is always there, waiting with open arms for me to come home. It doesn't care how much I cheat. And if I put in a little effort into our relationship, I can feel the romance again, if only for a little while, and remember why the two of us fell in love in the first place...

Yeah, I guess that's the best I can describe it.

Who the hell was letting you watch NGE at the age of FIVE?

I'd say I'm definitely a geek regarding Eva, just bordering on obsession, but I actually have a life beyond the 'net, so I'm not obsessed

I have the series and the movies but I don't have any of the wacky merchandise. I still obsess over it, but I obsess over everything. My brain is a catalogue of obsession that warps the light of knowledge and all that crap. I might be in the minority here, but I'm not really big on much anime outside of Eva. I obsess over a wide variety of mediums, so I supposes it's kind of spaced out with all these different obsessions fighting for dominance.
"Now, from Nature we obtain abundant information about ourselves, and precious little about others. About the woman you clasp in your arms, can you say with certainty that she does not feign pleasure? About the woman you mistreat, are you quite sure that from abuse she does not derive some obscure and lascivious satisfaction? Let us confine ourselves to simple evidence: through thoughtfulness, gentleness, concern for the feelings of others we saddle our own pleasure with restrictions, and make this sacrifice to obtain a doubtful result." -The Divine Marquis

I own the whole series, the movies, and a figure. So I guess I'm a moderate geek.

Who the hell was letting you watch NGE at the age of FIVE?

I remember my Anunt give me a Unit 01 action figure as a kid on 4th of July and I love it. Then I watch a VHS type of the series witch had episodes 1,2,3 and 6 (It was recored which is why they where in random order). It was that day that made me love the series ^_^.

I also watch Carnosaur when I was four and it was fine. Not to mention I also play MK II when I was six or seven years old. Have been reading the Spawn comics at the age of 7 or 8 (They are more violent and muture then NGE IMO).

I'm a pretty big fan of it, I guess. I use NGE backgrounds on my laptop and I have the manga, but I don't think I'd ever get NGE action figures or t-shirts or anything like that.

I don't even watch it that often. I guess I just like the concept and the characters (Rei, especially).

How big of a fan am I? HOW BIG OF A FAN AM I?!?

I watched the last two episodes and was only confused for two months.

That's how big a fan of the show I am.

I don't know what kind of fan to call myself.
Yeah I love Evangelion to the point of making a parody and I decided to start buying some of the stuff.

I have the Angelic Days Manga and Platinum Perfect Collection.
I do plan on buying End of Evangelion on DVD, Death and Rebirth, and eventually the manga adaption of Evangelion. Oh yeah and the Eva rebuild 1.0 DVD and when ever the heck it comes out, the english dub DVD of RoE

So...
What would the right word be for me?

A big casual fan?
An odd obsessed fan?
A casual obsessed fan?

I think I'll go with #3

You're an entertaining guy, Parped :]

I bought the "Perfect" DVD collection for £64

Two years later,
I bought the Platinum DVD collection for £64.01

(Bare in mind, this was back when £1 = $1.70)

I have no plans to ever sell, or give away
the Perfect collection. I'm a proud fan.

I was also only like 5 or 6 when I first came across NGE in some children's TV channel; probably those who decided 'when to broadcast what' didn't expect NGE to be so violent and minfu*king.

I think I'm in some sort of 'stable relationship' with NGE. I used to be very frantic; I collected those Bandai model figures and NGE books (I've disposed of the figures but still keep the books; the drafts drawn by the animators are cool). Now the feeling has kind of sedimented; I regularly think about it and watch the series which I'm now slowly doing (bought the Platinum Complete recently). It's the only anime which I've truly loved; it's been like 11-12 years already and I'm still loving it.
If all the world hated you, and believed you wicked, while your own conscience approved you, and absolved you from guilt, you would not be without friends. -Jane Eyre, Chapter 8
