Question on Eva 01 Bloody Type

Alright, I looked around and could not find anything on this matter but I'm sure its been asked before.

I'm watching Rebuild cause I'm waiting for a download to end and its at the part where Eva 01 is "breaking through" Sachi's ATF.

It shows the Blood Types for Sachi and Eva 01.

Target Object : ATF : Pattern Blood Type : Blue A
Eva 01 Core Unit

Eva 01 is a "clone" of Lilith which is the mother of the Lilim IE Humans. Humans have Red Blood and since Eva 01 is a direct clone of Lilith the mother of Humans, shouldn't Eva01 have Type Red?

I understand that Lilith is still an Angel but....?

"Blood Type Pattern" doesn't have anything to do with the blood's actual color. For example, the Angels are (usually) classified as "Pattern Blue", but (except for Sachiel in NGE) all observed blood is the standard vertebrate red.

As for what the terminology actually designates, and what the difference is between all the types we hear about (blue, orange, green, sepia, and red), I still have no idea.

The "pattern blue" thing has nothing to do with actual blood (nor do humans have "pattern red")


it's based off a cheesy old Japanese scifi movie which Anno, as a total neeerd along with the other Gainax boys, thought was a classic

the plot is something like that around the world, people see UFO's in the sky; anyone who saw a UFO, their blood inexplicably turns blue in color. Unfortunately, the same old human hysteria and paranoia begin to take effect, and the "blood type blue" UFO-sighters start getting persecuted and rounded up into internment camps or worse. Social commentary there.

Anyway, Angels are "blood pattern blue", "blood pattern red" is an ANTI-AT Field. Admittedly, this isn't an aspect of the series that was supposed to actually make sense but was an obscure movie reference.

Blue blood was a ancient Briton symbol/sign of royalty. also, the red/blue Eva dichotomy. other than that, I have no idea how blue blood is relevant.

Green I don't recall; sepia turned up in the latter third of the series, but I don't off-hand remember the exact context.

No, "pattern red" isn't an Anti-ATF. It's when Eva-01 goes into God mode in EoE. (Right? I can't recall Pattern Red appearing elsewhere, offhand)
