Hi. Hello. Howdy. How ya doin? How's your hammer hangin?
Indulge my self importance for a moment. ;)
On more than one occasion, some of my real life friends have commented to me that they had checked out "that other Eva site (I) started" and noticed that people were all like "where the hell is The Eva Monkey?", and "I miss that guy", and "That asshole owes me five bucks!". I was flattered that I was missed in my absence. While I hesitate to say "I'm back", I thought I would at least say hello, and tell those interested as to what is going on in my life. And considering that I started this forum back on Eva Monkey many moons ago, I feel obligated to fill you all in. I'll try to give you the short of the last 7ish months since this place was launched, as my presence here has always been dodgey.
Just prior to the launch of this community, I began work at the Library of Congress in Washington DC. I was a Tier I Help Desk meat sack. My primary responsibility was to manage my office's audio-visual mission. I setup, tracked, and managed a considerable portion of A/V work for the Library. In addition to that, I monitored critical library systems, filtered and tracked technical requests, and supported the main public operator line of the Library. Not a bad job, if it weren't for the horrendous commute and for the fact that the government likes to take simple jobs and make them overly complex and stressful to their employees. I hated the job more and more every day until eventually I had stomach cramps, headaches, and chest pains on a daily basis. I quit in mid-march. Shortly after turning 25.
A week and a half later, I secured a job as a web designer at one of the most prominent web firms in the Mid-Atlantic region. The job has been better in every way conceivable. The commute is much shorter, easier, and cheaper, even with today's gas prices. The pay is better. The hours are better. I get more sleep. I have more free time. There's considerably less stress. My coworkers are great. I can wear whatever I want (within reason). And I'm actually doing work I want to do. The only downside is that it's an office, and has some of the monotonous office stuff. But aside from that, it's one of the best jobs I've had.
Aside from that, my machinima group is going pretty good. We've produced close to two hours of material, and have built a nice little fanbase. We're very close to finalizing a licensing deal with Microsoft to use assets from their games, such as Halo, within a commercial capacity. We've also formed an LLC, and have some business grants and investments in process. We hope in a year's time to be producing machinima work professionally on a full time basis, like Rooster Teeth, makers of Red vs. Blue. Which would be nice, because I would like to have the credit of having been a professional film maker of some kind, and hopefully the machinima work will serve as a good springboard towards getting a masters in film, which is one of my goals to accomplish by the time I'm 30.
Life has been good to me recently. I'm trying to live in the moment, and spend more time with the people in my life rather than spending most of my time behind a computer. This is very much because of my friend Travis, who passed away recently. I posted an entry on Eva Monkey concerning this if you would like to know more.

Travis did not post on Eva boards, to my knowledge, at least not enough that I would remember. He was someone I communicated by every means EXCEPT boards. He will be missed, and when I think of him, I think of the phrase "Live life to the fullest".
I'm living comfortably here in Baltimore City with my girlfriend, we've been living together here for a year now. We're living happily together, we might as well be married, though we have no plans to at this time.
Another interesting tidbit of information is that I never actually graduated from UMBC. I was short a language 201 credit. I'm currently taking said course, and should be entitled to a diploma in five weeks time. However, if I'm not mistaken, I'll have to wait till like December to get it. Which is no big deal, truth be told. I'm going to be with my current job for some time, and they deal with skill, not education.
As for me, Evangelion, and Eva Monkey... I miss it. As someone has said, I don't have any significant interest in anime anymore. I still pull stuff off the shelf, but I have no desire to pursue new titles. I'd rather just watch what I know and (still) love. Eva is still kinda lukewarm. I still collect stuff, and I definitely still have interest, it's just not enough to devote a sizable chunk of my life to it. And truth be told, I don't want to. I miss Eva Monkey a lot. I feel like a large part of my identity is gone. I'm considering overhauling the site into something more bloggish that I can update every so often so I can be like "Hey, check out this video", or "this fan art is awesome", or "Did you hear that Ikari Shinji Raising Project got licensed?". That will probably happen when I hit rock bottom and get really depressed over not having Eva in my life. Assuming of course that I actually get to that point. But for right now, I'm busy trying to live life to the fullest, as much as possible.
Oh, and one last thing...
Stay on topic bitches.

Don't be fooled. This topic is actually the creation of an experimental AI implanted with the personality of Aaron Clark. While it is still currently in the trial phase, Aaron hopes to eventually let this AI maintain his Internet presence while he is free to fully enjoy and suffer IRL.
But, in actual actuality, this is all the work of the La-Li-Lu-Le-Lo and part of their intricate plot to manipulate the mindless masses in accordance with their vision of absolute order.

Okaeri Nasai, Monkey.
My condolences about Travis. That was really sad.
On a sunnier note, I'm glad to hear about your new job. It sounds like a delight! (Glad you got out of your old job, too, 'cause it sounds like a nightmare!)

It's great to hear from you EM! My condolences about Travis but a sincere congrats on the fact your life is going well. It doesn't get much better than doing what you love and getting paid and having the time to pursue other areas of interest. Hope it all continues!

So, what you're telling us, is that this forum, the wiki, and everything else is running on an Eva Monkey dummy plug? :)
