I agree very strongly with catinajar. It seems very interesting and well thought, but I just don't see this happening. The way the series ended just doesnt seem to lend itself for this as a continuation.

Kaworu's dialogue is intentionally designed to be as ambiguous as possible.

Anno is a giant troll and he's loving it.

In the end, it's most likely that only a very small handful of speculators who thought way outside the box will be vindicated, and everyone else will feel like morons because it was right in front of us all along. Maybe.

Possible explanation:

SPOILER: Show

Because the characters from Rebuild are not the characters from the series, but "different" people repeating the same story. Thus, the Yui inside the original EVA-01 (now 06) wouldn't be the Yui inside Rebuild's EVA-01.

It doesn't necessarily need to be a sequel, it could be an alternate universe, with a Kaworu aware of it and sharing multiple memories, or something like that.

I think it doesn't really need to be explained, and I don't think Anno will do it. It would be too easy, he's not Sadamoto. People who are looking for too many answers might be disapointed once again and will still be here speculating for the next 10 years.

At best I would expect some quick flash to something from the old eva as some kind of Alternate possibility, but not actually making it into any type of true sequel.

Soul of Rei = Soul of Yui = Soul of Lilith = Soul in Eva 01 = Soul in Eva 06?

all of it being in different places at the same time? Since in my understanding it is the Power of The Lilith that would, presumably, make it possible - provided the laws of the EoE Universe still apply, of course?

I think that's what I meant, sorta... I mean, didn't she achieve that by fusing with Adam and Lilith?

No wait. Yui didn't become a Seed by fusing with them. She became a god I think, where god >> Seed.

Seed Type Lilith (Wizdom) + Seed Type Adam (Power) = god-like being... Right?

I think I expressed myself poorly:

GNR(=Adam + Lilith) + Eva 01 (Yui) = Ultimate godlike being =/= Seed

Somehow, it seemed Eva 01 retained its godly status after GNR crashed... to boldly go where no blue-haired woman had gone before...

At least, that's the, umm, 'meaning' I got. Then again, I guess I'm treading too close to the EoE discussion thread here, so I'll better shush now... ^^;

So if let's say that Series!Eva-01 IS on the Moon and Rebuild!Eva-01 is on Earth, why exactly is Series Yui-sama there when she should be floating away in space?

I wonder too.... Maybe she got bored, reached some uninhabited planet, decided to settle on its conveniently placed moon, use her godly powers to spread some life around in the likeness of that which she knew/which was dear to her, and give the Rebuild!Yui's son a chance to do things differently this time around, all in the name of her love of Mankind? (I do not believe any of this personally, just conjecturing...)

If Anno really wanted to screw with us he could have the whole Rebuild movie series a dream. It started off normal then gets all weird, crazy and nutso, then Shinji wakes up. Asuka and Shinji are in their early 20's in the Post 3rd Impact world.

Shinji,"I just had the craziest dream!!"

Asuka,"What about?"

Shinji,"I...I really don't want to talk about it.."

Asuka,"How many times have I told you brewing the LCL into hard liquor is a bad idea!!"

Shinji,"Keep acting like that and I won't make more of my delicious soup for dinner tonight."

Asuka,"What, you mean lukewarm seawater and LCL?"

Shinji,"......you bitch.."

Well the double torso GNR/K seemed just like the Kabalic idea of Adam Kadamon, the double bodied androgyne forbearer to angels and humans. Time was considered to be it's dominion so what if Kaworu decided to make Shin-chan happy?

Um, and insane ideas aside I don't think this is a direct sequel but from all the allusions such as Asuka's EOE patch and the Rei's I don't doubt EoE and TvEVA are going to be touched on by Anno.
