Cause titles are soooooo important and all...
Oh, but God forbid any of these theories have any validity! After all, we are just brainwashing innocent people with Reichu's fanclub propaganda!--Trigger's Elysium sarcasm for the masses!

@Bee-Zerk: Don't have a cow, man. Toying with the ranks involved a lot of number-shifting and two of the Angels accidentally ended up at "700" in the process. Fixed, in any event.

Sorry if I'm bothering you, but is there some kind of page in the forum that will list out the ranks for the people that are new here so they will know how many posts they are from gaining the next rank? (like me)
Not the ranks are THAT important anyway...

Thanks.

There's a pretty regular pattern of progression, and you should be able to figure them out by observing the local population if you really care that much. Giving you a list would "ruin the fun".

I guess there's no way around it then...

Oh well, I already know most of the ranks anyway.

1. The forum is doing that whole "marked as unread when it is not" BS to me.

2. For some reason, I cannot post in the welcome thread at the moment. Every time I try, the post is blank. I try to edit it, and it says everything I wrote is there, but the facts tell a different tale.

Edit:

3.It is also marking my own posts as unread when it shouldn't: I wrote them!

Edit 2: oh yeah, I would also not mind if those posts got fixed...

maybe your browser is blocking cookies from the website or something is wrong with your firewall.

IDK could be one of the above problems.

Works now but that was a really rare occurrence.

And I thought, for a second, you were EM. -_-

The problem is it tried to send email when you posted, for whatever reason it couldn't. You were probably posting in a thread that had people watching, so those people get sent an email when someone posts in that thread.

I'm getting this error:

Fatal error: Call to a member function sql_query() on a non-object in /home/.toynbee/evageeksadmin/forum/includes/functions_post.php on line 134

...when I try to start a new thread. Any ideas?

I got a debug problem at about 5:30PM my time; it lasted for about a minute. I think it might have managed to delete a post from this page: http://www.evageeks.org/forum/viewtopic.php?t=5996&start=260 but that could just me trippin'. (It's possible Chee deleted it of his own accord.)

Some threads are vanishing from the Discussion Forum, but not the database, when the last post is removed. Resynching doesn't fix the problem, but making a new post at the end does. I seem to recall that this happened at one point before, but, since resynching isn't doing anything here, I'm at a loss for how to address the issue.

This happens in all the subforums. I don't know why. For some reason, if you delete the last post, the thread gets ordered according to the first post, and not the most recent one. That's why it appears to be gone (it's actually buried).

Finally... (not)

Postby Alaska Slim » Sun Apr 05, 2009 12:00 am

For several days now all the listed forums dates were stuck on my birthday... almost my literal birthday, felt like I was going through my own personal cyber-groundhog day where everyone still yet remembers what I did (thus, it was no fun at all).

At first I thought it was an April fool's joke, but by april 3rd I dropped that assumption. Everything's back to normal now, time is once again in sync, but I thought I should let you know.

EDIT:

Ah crap its back again, I HATE BIRTHDAYS....

But seriously, what's going on here, is this a refresh error? Or does this relate to Ornette's doing?

No idea what the problem is. The dates on the posts are stored in a database, changing them would be no small feat and would surely break certain things. PHPBB takes this date (# of milliseconds since the last epoch, 0:00:00 Jan 1st 1970) and converts it to a readable calendar date. There's no way that can get messed up unless for some reason, the database was not returning that column of the posts table, which has never happened in my years of experience with mysql. Even if there was some error in converting the timestamp to a calendar date, it would probably just end up saying Jan 1st, 1970, so unless you're birthday is on Jan 1st, 1970, I can't see how it would get the same arbitrary calendar date out of different timestamps. In any case, everyone would see the same wrong date and I haven't noticed it, and I specifically use the post dates to determine what I've read or not read because I always have the same problem that Reichu posted about a few posts up.

If this happens again, take a screenshot so i can get an idea what dates specifically you're talking about. Because it's not happening to me, there's no way it can only happen to you, the post dates are all generated on the server side like I described above.
