US Distributors for DVD release?
Which US Distributor do you folks think may handle the English DVD versions of the four new animated Evangelion movies? ADV Films? Manga Entertainment? FUNimation? Or Other?
I was gonna make a poll but the forums keeps telling me I have too many poll options.

ok
could we seriously start talking about Evageeks actually doing a Dub for it?
Like money raising and stuff
It would be really cool
and It would make us the ultimate Eva site
and V, Reichu, Aaron and Co.'s dreams would be realized
I mean, couldnt we at least write a formal letter to the English/American company who gets the rights asking that we be hooked to the project OR AT LEAST be consulted so they are correct in thier dubbing and since we are Defintley more knowledgable then ADV on Eva

SailorStarDust:"No, everything has SOME meaning to it in Eva!"

No.
None of us has experience in the industry (AFAIK, except Carl Horn), we don't know distributors, we don't have any idea of the volumes we need, we don't have the money to pay for the license, nor do I think we can convince anyone who does have money to invest it in us. The other problem is time. It's one thing to put together a loose confederation of people and setup a site, but it's totally another thing to put together a commercial project that requires hundreds of thousands of dollars as just a base. Plus, some of us have jobs.
On the other hand, a freebie approach where funding can be obtained (with zero return, in other words, donations), and we can send a couple of people with 6 months to a year of free time and can speak Japanese fluently to Japan and negotiate a licensing contract (AND beat out the big players such as Manga and ADV), then we get people to sub it, then release it for free on the internet. That's doable, from this point of view, but IMO impossible from the licensor's point of view. They want royalties, we're not making any money, they don't want stuff that other regions can download for free, we're distributing it on the internet.

I don't think that we're going to do an Evageeks rebuild fandub...that's something we could get prosecuted for.

but to get the part, you would have SCREAM REALLY REALLY GOOD
Hey, I COULD do that! After all, I'm the only person I know of my age who can still sing treble.
And, just to clarify, my accent isn't very heavily British.
Normality is overrated
Kaworu/Asuka - give it a chance!
(Clarification - I still like Asuka/Shinji)

We should AT THE VERY LEAST contact whoever gets the rights so they don't slaughter it. No one wants a repeat of misleading information about Eva...

This is a goofy conversation.
I'm hoping it goes to Sony Classics (new DVD release of PAPRIKA is quite nice) but most likely it will end up with ADVFilms or Manga.
But seriously...Evageeks doing their own version. Sounds like it would be more fun as a novelty than anything worth investing in. But if there was voicing to had I'd like to Hyuga.

This may be a dumb question, but can't the people who did the platinum edition of the show do Rebuild? I thought the picture and audio quality of that boxset was hot sauce.
Really I could care less as long as Manga doesn't do it. I'm just not a fan. But then again, there's no vhs copy of Rebuild, so I mean, I really don't see how they can do bad here.
I say that nervously.

The pregnancy is now absolute.
