MARATHON:Ever watched Eva start to finish?

Was one of the most intense experiences ever
Me and 3 of my friends (3 who had never seen it before) decided to take it upon ourselves to watch Evangelion start to finish (1-26, DC episodes instead of OA, Death, skipped Rebirth, and then EoE)

After we finished EoE we passed out for an hour, then tried watching Shaun of The Dead, which failed to keep our attention. We tried watching Spongebob and that couldnt keep our attention. finally we ended up playing Mario Party 8 (Wii)

I found it funny that we couldn't watch T.V that didn't require thinking for a week and a half. after that Week and a half we were finally able to go out and see Beowolf which was suprisingly entertaining

Anyone had any more intresting experiences trying to Marathon Eva?

I watched the whole shebang in one all-nighter when I first got it. Two days later I joined what was then EMF.

The rest is history.

I used to have an Eva marathon every year in high school. I even had rules and everything. One of the rules was that you had to bring a guest who had never seen Eva, so the first time it was just me and another guy. Next year, it was me, that guy, and two people we picked. Next year it was only 5 of us, since we didn't really have friends to invite after that... We would watch the whole series and the boots of D&R and EoE. The bootlegs, with their crazy quality and here and there audio were amazingly powerful after the mindfuck that was the first 13 VHS domestics. After that, we'd usually go home and not speak to each other for a week or so. 17 hours of being locked in a room together will do that to you, I suppose.

I've always wanted to but haven't yet done it. I gave it a try once, but eventually my friend and I just gave up and did the most important episodes, then the movies. Apparently it IS possible to have too much Evangelion in a 24 hour period. XD

It's how I watched it the first time. It's the only way to do it, IMO.

I am thinking about doing it soon.

Then I will have a Rebuild marathon (when I import the more than likely ridiculously expensive DVDs).

Then put it all together. The mindfuckage :?.

Yeah a marathon with the old series and movies plus rebuild would be crazy, you can also toss in the eva@school shorts and the weta movie if that ever gets made :o

Good lord. That would be an overload. That would truly be too much EVA in a twenty-four time span.

Well my freind mike had a marathon where we watched the entire utena series and movie, that would come out to be more then that probably, but I wasn't there for the whole thing since during the middle I had to go pick up my computer and then I came back near the end. And then after it was over mike put in a dvd full of mediocre anime prevues for no reason which lasted about an hour. After that I had a long drive home so I kept on having to punch myself to keep from falling asleep.

I've done this marathon several times and it’s worth it. The first time we completed it we topped it off with EoE which i had just purchased, and later i thought that i had imagined the Asuka/ Shinji hospital room scene...haha, strangely enough it was real.

But on a quasi-related note, i've played Eva drinking games per disk before, and it was a toilet clenching nearly hospital inducing experience.

For example...

Take 1 drink when:

Shinji speaks internally
Misato drinks
Asuka raises her voice
Gendo is on screen

Take two drinks when:

Shinji complains
Misato scowls at Kaji
Rei is bandaged
Gendo talks on the phone
Ritsuko is typing
Asuka speaks in German

Take three drinks when:

Any Eva is on screen
You see the Magi
Asuka says "Third Child(ren)"
Another Rei is produced
Shinji listens to his headphones
Pen Pen is onscreen

Chug a beer when:

Gendo smiles
An Eva goes berserk
Misato does the "nasty"
An angel approaches (has been identified)

While these aren't all of the rules, I think yall get the picture.

When I got the first DVD set, around 5 years ago, I marathoned it in two days.

i tried once: failed
my mistake: i started at 8pm
i got all the way up to ep 16, then i passed out
that had to have been around 2 or 3 am. i think i fell asleep when Shinji was in Leliel
ever since ive wanted to try again, but i never get around with it. i would start around 4pm or something

I watched it from finish to start.

Believe it or not, the first episode makes a better ending than the last one does. I was much happier ending the series with Shinji slowwwly walking away from Tokyo 3 in reverse.
