I feel like I've read this somewhere, but I get deja vu very frequently so I have no idea. So anyways, I recently got Revival of Evangelion in the mail, and I was finally able to go through EoE's super-quick-flashing-images scene frame by frame. I noticed this:

Image

IT'S A CAT! IT'S A CAT! IT'S A CAT! It appears over four almost-consecutive frames, starting at the middle-bottom of the screen and exiting over the middle-left. This has no conceivable purpose that I can figure, so I'm guessing it's just there for the sake of doodling.

So, uh... yeah. We now have a penguin, a dog, and a cat. The trifecta is now complete.

Oops, I didn't mean to split the entire thread, just the selected posts. Too, bad you can't undo.

SO LET'S TRY THIS AGAIN (and this time, less spam)

So, Misato and a drawing of a cat - how are they connected? Hmmm.....
I thought what I'd do was, I'd pretend I was one of those deaf mutes.

They're not. The cat is there for four frames, and each background image is different during that time.

Isn't that cat image from one of the scenes in EoTV (Paraphrased: "Your image, not just your perception of the World, can change as well.")?

Specifically, this?

Image

EDIT: Ack, okay, apparently, it wasn't that scene, but there IS some scene in EoTV that all these shapes are shown, one of them being two cats (they kinda look like the Magnet-Cats of Ritsuko's).

Me to. It was damn cool.
Normality is overrated

Kaworu/Asuka - give it a chance!
(Clarification - I still like Asuka/Shinji)

*Searches for the screencap she was mentioning*

Image

It IS part of that same scene I mentioned. The only reason the cats are all blurry is the scene goes so fast I couldn't screencap/pause it right. >_<

Found it from this Episode 26 Existentialism Clip here,
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Sp3fmAYbiO0

I dunno if there is a connection to the M26' Mindfrak sequence, but it wouldn't surprise me.

Actually, there may be some truth to that. In another thread, ages ago, it was theorised that the Ritsuko-dead-cat conversation was refering to Kaji being killed, in which case, the cat in this scene may make some sense.

That sounds cool, actually. I'm sure the cat probably has some meaning, as more or less everything in Evangelion does in some way.

I like to think that, even with the seemingly pointless religious symbolism. It may be an association know only in Anno's mind. For example, I associate christianity with morales, rules, "Thou shalt not kill", etc.

which would explain why gendo was like -_- while Ritsuko said that to him. When I think about it more and more, I think she had those two cats on the computer to symbolize Misato and Kaji, her only real friends she ever had (that we're told about), excluding the bridge bunnies and such. And she might've kept everything to herself, because Misato fired back at her in...oh i've forgotten which episode. well she fired back, saying that Ritsuko talks to her cats. If they're real, I don't blame her. She has quite the job.

If they're actual symbols for the two that she said, and "Grandma" is a codename for an operative or something, then Misato had just made herself look like a idiot. Hmm, as I'm writing all of this, I have a big hunch that Ritsuko has a little bit of the hedgehog's dilemma as well. Just a little. Not like Shinji.
