Hey there ,

Wanted to start an Topic about mecha modeling , http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mecha .. You know building a Mecha , All of evangelion's Eva unit's have been released as model kits by bandai , And there's even a Perfect grade Eva01 (perfect grades usually are the hardest and the lagest models) , However mecha modeling is not easy , Most of them need coloring and some skills and tools . It's an expensive hobby but quite intresting , I am currently looking forward for building an Eva02 model , + I've pre-ordered both new Bandai model kits for the new eva's (Rebuild) .

WHAT? You telling me Dai-Guard is a lie! All my hopes and dreams...

Anyway yeah everynow and then I have a strange desire to design some kickass mecha. Its a lot tougher than it seems. Form has to follow function 95% or it just doesn't seem right. I admire Ikuto Yamashita for the evas. Pretty much everything you see on the exterior of the mech-figure is used for something. Just watching the injection of the entry plug is fantastic. Also Evangelions don't have the blocky appearance of Gundam; Yamashita managed to maintain a 'humanoid' look.

I've never tried a build-your-own-eva, but I've messed around with some build-your-own-Armored Core stuff - the Scimitar MT kicks ass.

I'm tired of people saying mecha-madness is illogical or doesn't serve a purpose in anime or games. Mecha owns.

Totally! , Damn i admire Ikuto Yamashita Too ! , Btw Anno and Ikuto both designed the mecha in the series , However for the new rebuild yamashita is working with seiji kio i never heared of him before but so far he's done a pretty amazing job with both the Eva01 + Eva00 design's , Let people think whatever they want lol , We All know mecha is probably one of the main reasons why Evangelion is such a huge hit in Japan and everywhere , YOU HAVE TO TRY ONE OF BANDAI's EVA KITS!

Yeah, i've gotta try one. I see them every now and then at my local comicbook/games stores. Better get some before Robin Williams beats me to it...

Forgot to mention Metal Gear Rex (designed by Yoji Shinkawa) in my previous post. Now that would be a sweet battle: Evangelion Unit 01 vs. Metal Gear Rex! Shinji vs. Liquid!

Yeah it does sound a little clunky, but hey, still wouldn't mind having one sitting in my yard. ...Except, I'd need to load the cannons with things other than tennis balls. Maybe add a rail gun?

Here's a link to a pretty good mecha site. It highlights all kinds of mech from different animes. Not sure if it has Evangelion, but it has Macross, Ideon, Gundam, and others...

Drawing pretty pictures and moral support. I'll also do one of those bikini car washes to raise money.

Maybe a different thread is needed for the "are eva's mechs?" question. I always thought they were mechs, but somehow the only mechs i could stand. eh.
