Reichu did that as a tongue in cheek approach to things like hentai, actually.

But anyway, TOPIC.

I do love how people tend to act like Tomino and Gundam robots in general are more realistic then the EVA, especially since in many respects a synthetic genetically designed creature controlled and retained within a system of armor and harnesses is far more realistic and easier to make so long as we can figure out our own DNA well enough. It would take so much power and massive motors and power routing systems to drive a Gundam.

Wouldn't be cost effective in comparison to growing EVA units on the cheap in a large lab somewhere and attaching and building restraints on them and armoring them up so they don't die as easy as us.

Some respects of EVA and Gundam type robots are both more realistic then each other, and i also dont like to hear people bash saying giant robots are not possible since they are its just no one has put the time or money in that sorta tech in order to build them, it would amount to nothing more with current technology then a encumbered tank. If they increased the capabilities of electric motors and battery capacity both could become reality with enough funding and making it worthwhile to send something so big on the battlefield.

It could be very effective if made the right way. Something that big and humanoid could be very intimidating and serve to play as much as physical asset as physiologically intimidating one as well.

But what does that have to do with the Eva designs in Rebuild?

Being fairly familiar with robots of a large range of sizes, "increase the capability of electric motors" is both far easier said than done, and pretty useless in building large mobile machines. Complaint actuators are a real necessity for high-speed movement over a certain size without ripping your robot to bits, and no high-power complaint actuators exist yet. The "walking tank" concept has been debunked so many times it's not worth discussing.

Or the 20th century boys argument: If you pilot a giant bipedal mecha, you'd spend your whole trip vomiting, because of the up and down motion would turn your stomach upside down. Or well, you could do a Tetsujin 28 (was that the number?) remote controlled one.

That is unless it's an anti-motion cockpit where the whole up and down motion is neutralized, like on some fishing boats. Then the whole Air pressure matter would need to be resolved as well.....Im sure Maya's got that covered!

It's less cost effective to make an EVA. Remember you can mass produce mobile suits, EVA's have to be made from scratch every time and have a tendency to think for themselves.

An eva wouldn't even be able to stand, it's too tall, thin and heavy.

It would just collapse under its own weight.

As for a Gundam robot it might be possible with good hydrolics. Who knows.

Did Unit 00 not throw a lances through the atmossphere, did Eva Unit 01 not break the sound barrier? I would think that if an eva could pull off those feats, then they could easily pull off standing.

Those things are even more unrealistic. I don't get your point.

While the things you sayd are intriguing this is the wrong place to do it. This thread and indeed this section of the forums is Rebuild film related discussions. What your trying to bring into this thread is totally unrelated and close to derailing this topic.

If your interested in continuing to discuss the merits of which weapon is more difficult to build. Ie: Gundam vs. Eva, then please make a new topic in the Evangelion chit-chat part of the forums.

First of all, I didn't bring anything new in this thread, I was merely replying to this:

Kamina wrote:I do love how people tend to act like Tomino and Gundam robots in general are more realistic then the EVA, (...).

I just reply that we can't talk about realism when it comes to gigantic robots or evas. There's nothing to really debate about. I'm not prolonging this discussion, I'm just ending it.

Jinroh wrote:Since they are supposed to be manufactured products, it's not really surprising. Even more when they are supposed to be clones.

The problem with this logic is that the Evas AREN'T identical (meaning they aren't clones in the purest sense of the word). Assuming for simplicity's sake that Eva-01 is an Adam clone (since she looks exactly like one), compare her to Eva-03. Eye color is different, and nostrils are in a different location (WTF?). And take a look at Eva-02 -- absolutely wacky (four eyes, blue skin, indigo blood?).

The identical physiques doesn't make a whole lot of sense from the standpoint of "realism". (You'd be extraordinarily hard-pressed to even get a *perfect* clone to look exactly like its antecedent.) I get the feeling this is mostly about streamlining the animation process.

A shame, too. It would've been nice to see them take advantage of the opportunity to vary the Evas a little. For example, the "Production Models" are supposed to be optimized for combat, but this never comes across in any obvious way, besides the inexplicable "Eva-02 can get into a goofy diving suit and the others can't, lol". Solution: Make them totally ripped (i.e., physically specialized for kicking ass, compared to the "default"). Eva-02 should look like she's been taking testosterone supplements.

The phisic you complain/nitpick is the armor, and since they are suposed to be an army it's not suprising they wear a padronized armor, eva 00 didnt have this consistent look when it was a prototype, and 01 is a field test, so they added some flair, hence why it looked diferent, they didnt padronized him for too reason

1-anime logic, dont fix what aint broke.especially when they werent so sure it was gonna work
2-real world logic, the eva 01 look is iconic enough to be keep even if partially.

So, I was going through some old getter stuff when I thought.

Red head protrusions, white waste. EVA 02 or getter 1?

Claw and drill arm. EVA 05 or getter 2?

I gotta say this thought amuses me to no end. I can't get the image of EVA 01 with a fighter plane bolted to it's head riding a sixty foot tall horse and a pair of huge revolvers.

EVANGELION MACK. THIS POSITRON RIFLE HAS TOO MUCH HIGH POWER MAN.

Wow, you just missed every single reference. Getter robo was one of the original mecha anime. It invented a good deal of the elements used in evangelion, if not so much as one or two others.
