I wonder if Summer Glau would make a good Rei...

She's the pretty much only white girl I've seen who could have pulled it off, but after playing River and Cameron I kind of doubt she wants to get typcast as the emotionally imbalanced lab rat.

A few months back I read exceprts from an interview with Summer Glau, and apparently Joss Whedon said to her (after Sarah Connor Chronicles was axed) "We'll have to get you in the Dollhouse", which prompted her to express pretty much what you said there Timstuff - her phrasing was "I'd like to play a normal person before I die". Recently she actually has been confirmed as being cast in Dollhouse season 2, but not as in the role of an active ('doll').

The only movie I've seen her in was Sky High a few years ago, but she showed decent potential given that it was a pretty cheesy movie. She's 22 and looks like she could pass for a high school student. That is, assuming that the movie actually gets made any time soon (which at this point looks like a long shot at best).

Believe me, my search for an Asuka who is the right blend of cute and sexy has led me to much darker places than that.

A lot of the under 25 actresses I've looked at are either Disney Channel jailbait, look way too old to pass for a teenager, or are simply not in anything beyond lowest-common-denominator crap like horror and party movies. I've spotted a few actresses recently who seem to find the sweet spot of looking like a teen while still maintaining enough allure for the big boys, but I need to take a look at some of their recent work to see if they can actually act. For the record though, I don't think it's fair to dismiss someone's potential as an actor just because there's a couple dumb movies in their resume (and unless you're a big star it's not like you can be that picky anyway).

I still have Lyndsy Fonseca on my favorable list, but the weird thing is that now she's going to be in Matthew Vaughn's Kick Ass with Aaron Johnson, who's my top choice for Shinji. Not that any of this matters that much anyway since for now it looks like Hollywood won't touch Evangelion (or any anime) with a 10 foot pole (to which Gendo'sPapa had much rejoicing).

Forgive my off topicness, but Yim has a point. I mean The Truman and the Majestic were some of Jim Carrey's less then stellar selling films but I still love his movies - haven't seen Yes Man yet though.

Lol what? Never in million years I want to see Keanu Reeves in a Eva movie. He has been some good movies The Matrix (the first one), Hardball, The Devil's Advocate, Speed and Bill & Ted but he is not a actor that would fit in a eva movie IMO.
