When?
When he talks. His voice fits what I would expect an english Gendo to sound like.
He doesn't sound like Gendo. XD
Kevin Smith's too young to play Gendo, anyway.
By the time they actually get round to making this, he probably will be :P
Tell me, is something eluding you, sunshine?
Is this not what you expected to see?
If you wanna find out what's behind these cold eyes
You'll just have to claw your way through this disguise!

Ok. No complains 'till now. How about Mr. McMahon for Gendo and Mrs. Richardson for Ritsuko?
Shinji: tobby mc guire
Misato: sylvia saint
ritsuko: pamela anderson
gendo: brad pitt
fuyutsuki: orlando bloom
keel: max wright (yes, the father in "alf", that should fit)
well, I think that making an anime movie with actors is very difficult because its hard to find the right person to fit in some anime character
an example: did you see dragon ball z movie?? http://www.badmovies.org/movies/dragonball/index.html
(if you are wondering how good is this movie just look the name of the page)
well, I dont know about using actors...but im sure that using cgi actors would be the best for this cases...there are good examples like the final fantasy movies and im sure that it could have a nice result
P.D: I usually dont write in english...

Brad Pitt for Gendou is a no-no.
Gendou's voice is much deeper, than Brad Pitts. I don't think it'd sound right.
Same goes for posture wise. Gendou is always in a serious, straight-forward pose. Brad Pitt equals no-no.
Orlando Bloom for Fuyutsuki is also a little wierd.
A young-old man, played by someone who's like 30 or so?
Hmm... It'd seem wierd for that to take place, would it not?

I somehow doubt that the reason the DBZ movie sucked so hard had all that much to do with the fact that the actors don't look like cartoon characters. Likewise, I doubt that if this movie blows, it will have everything, or even anything to do with the fact that the actors didn't look like their animated counterparts.

Judging from the other suggestions, I don't think klanco was serious. If I'm wrong, then shoot klanco.

Well, it could work.
This is the casting thread. A lot of the suggestions are stupid as hell, but since the project has not been formally cancelled, it's staying open.

I'll do you one better:
When something stops breathing, we generally say it's dead. Now, Jesus may fall out of the clouds and bring it back to life, but unless that happens, we tend to continute referring to it as dead. While there may be signs of life that have not or cannot be detected by outsiders such as ourselves, it provdes no real benefit to assume the existence of such. As I said, "Until proven otherwise..."

Phoenix Feet wrote:What, do you have inside info? Do you work for ADV?
The film is in pre-production. Lots of boring things happen during pre-production. Things that aren't worth reporting or aren't disclosable to the public.
Don't assume it's dead just because we haven't heard anything for a while.
You don't have to work for ADV to know they're not gonna go through with it. You just have to look at the current state of the anime industry in the west.
ADV began the project at a time when anime imports had just started to take off in the western world & business was booming.
They foolishly believed this trend would continue to grow exponentially into the future & that ADV could make enough money to become a major player in the entertaininment industry instead of a two-bit dubbing studio with delusions of grandure.
Unfortunately, the anime industry has hit the wall.
Due to market oversaturation, bad dubbing & other factors, public interest in anime in the mainstream is flagging & the rate of growth for companies like ADV has slowed to a crawl.
There's just no way that they can pay for a feature film now. And I think they're still in debt to WETA studios for the concept art commissions.
It's a simple case of counting one's proverbial chickens before they've hatched.
2:34 And behold, We said to the angels: "Bow down to Adam" and they bowed down. Not so Iblis: he refused and was haughty: He was of those who reject Faith.
Giant robots with angels trapped inside of them,
Teenaged pilots & an evil organization,
Doing battle with giant monsters from beyond,
Mankind's last hope lies in the Evangelions.
