You know, instead of having that psychedelic Shinji closeup.

Eh? I don't have the skillz to understand anything you say without a good run up.

Is ol' Big'n'Purple really wobbling? It still looks more like heat haze to me. Then again she doesn't seem too light on her feet.

Woah, yeah. I'd say that seals it - two dimensional animation it is for the Evas. A surprising choice, if you ask me, but a good one. This way, an organic feel should be a lot easier to communicate than if CGI was employed :D

Reminded me of the Operation Yashima timetable, but it may be something entirely unrelated considering the elaborate appearance of the pages.

It still looks more like heat haze to me.

Mhmm, a lot of the "wobble" is most likely caused by just that. Though, in my opinion, this new swagger of hers is pretty cool.

Yui is a Gun Slinger?
I know what you're thinking. Did she fire six shots or only five? Well, to tell you the truth, in all this excitement, I've kinda lost track myself. But being as this is a .44 Pallet Gun, the most powerful Evagun in the world, and would blow your Core clean off, you've got to ask yourself one question: Do I feel lucky? Well, do ya punk?

Maybe it's due to the fact that I've just watched DBZ movies, but I'm not sure what you mean...

Houndour wrote:Reminded me of the Operation Yashima timetable

Yep. I didn't even have to think about that one.

LOL FIXED UR POST

I think they made the best decision by making it mainly background elements that are 3D, while living things are hand-drawn.

Indeed. I would be rather disappointed in them if our organic Evas and Angels were somehow considered to be in a different ballpark than the Little People (who get to be hand-animated, or whatever the proper term is nowadays).

Oh, well. At least we don't get disproportioned, malformed, rotoscoped horrors this time.

That whip hurts, Reichu. D:

The first thing that came to mind regarding that book was the Operation Yashima timetable. And I have to agree with NAveryW, the Evas definitely look handanimated here -- maybe it's just the step up in quality that makes it confusing.

Anyway, think about it. The original design was supposed to be a tremendous amount of power restrained, right?

So which makes more sense, wobbly steps? Or a proud strut?

Those are some nice comparisons. :)

I think both versions look just swell. Some shots look better in the original, some I prefer rebuild.

The fifth image down on the first comparison list now looks pretty crappy in my opinion (in the original).

I really can't see much difference at all in Tokyo-3's Most One-Sided Fistfight. I mean, it looks like it was redrawn, but possibly by tracing the original.

Holy poop!!!

I have been dying for months some kind of preview of what the animation would like and now finally a real trailer!

I can't believe there is still a month and a half before the theatrical release and then god knows how long until we here in the states can get a subbed copy.

I would have to imagine that the usual players in the download area are going to be swamped with requests.

We should develop some kind of plan of action...and by we I mean those out there who actually know what they are doing--which doesn't include me :)

Damn man. Nice comparisons.

It's weird but looking at the comparison between the Toji and Shinji shots it almost looks like they just traced over the original frame.

EVA-01 looks more lanky now, and creepy. I like it like that.
I love the detail on everything, the fighting scenes should be pretty good now too.

I concur, EVA-01 looks more much human than it's original counterpart. I like the "wobbley" EVA-01 a lot to be honest, as it aids a lot to the "creepy" aspects of it being human in itself and the zombie overtones.

Completely agree. :3

I didn't even notice that Sho now has a partially•green midsection until those comparison jobs (nice job, by the way). Still not sure if it's for better or for worse, but either way, it's nothing major.
