Does anyone know about any Cons in Australia this year? I am going on an abroad trip to Australia, and since I cant make it to Anizona (Arizona's Con) I want to go to on in Australia.

It may not be quite as accurate outside of North America, but Anime Cons seems to be the best source for info:

There are a few others that are happening, well at least 3 more off by memory but I dont have those cons information at the moment.
I have too much anime, yet it's not enough. Anime Addict, if it were a drug; I'd be dead.

Do conventions in other countrys differ from U.S. cons?

From my experience of SF and RPG cons, the main difference is that they are smaller - the big name US cons (US Worldcons, Gencon) have can have tens of thousands of attendees; a Worldcon outside the US might have 3-5 thousand, and an RPG con might be 2-3 hundred.

There's "WAI-Con" over here in Perth, Which has only been running for a couple of years or so?

I've never been myself (Actually I've only just heard of it? ), But It's held during the 15th-16th December this year, At Perth Convention Centre

i've been to each of the wai-cons since 2004. I'm skipping this year, since i didn't particularly enjoy 2005 and 2006.

Hey fellow Australians

I havent been as active as much as of late. a couple of months, but I do sometime check up upon the boards.

But the anime cons in Australia are forever expanding and growing however it would seem the growth is limited to the east coast.
I have too much anime, yet it's not enough. Anime Addict, if it were a drug; I'd be dead.

-the only English language novel actually being developed in parallel to its Japanese version involving a pan-human Soviet in a galactic struggle to survive and to export the communist utopia/revolution to all the down trodden alien class and race- one of the premise being that Khrushchev remains and has abandoned Lysenko stupidity

On second thought, I might actually look at going to the West Australian convention, Just to see what it's like for myself? .
