Ryuko: "I'm gonna knock ya on your asses!"
-Asuka: THINK IN GERMAN!!! -Shinji: Öh... Baumkuchen...

I wonder what will this 13 minute short film cover, probably another short about one of the WILLE crew?

As usual with Evangelion promotional short, I expect absolutely nothing of value.

Well, the last short (-46h) shed a little more light on how the Earth turned red (though it also raised several questions unanswered).

I really hope the new short film provides more explanations about the N3I and Failures of Infinity.

Since I watched Rebuilds I got completely disillusioned with Anno and Khara and every mention of any new projects or plans for EVA just gives me overwhelming feeling of anxiety. "Here we go again with some low effort cash grab." I don't know. I don't expect anything good anymore from them. Considering it is for the EVA 30+ events (I think) I don't really expect it being anything serious, because it will be screened only for those who bought a special ticket or something. And those tickets are already sold out I think. I heard the cost around $200. So it really looks like just another promotional material for the rescreening of Rebuilds movies and 30+ events. I don't know, I have 0 excitement or hope about it.

The previous short was nice, but I don't expect anything interesting from a paid event. It probably won't be a teaser either for some kind of inbetween movie, and that's the only thing I'm interested in.

I got excited when I misread "Evangelion 3.0+", thinking it would be a 3.0 prequel that covers the 14 year gap. I welcome anything new from Eva, though. I loved -46h.

I sure hope not! But I think you are right...

It will probably be related to Q again, as that's the most influential movie in the tetralogy.

A neat idea would be to make shorts like -46h about each Wunder crew member to show their little adventures and how they survived third impact and joined Wille. It could be a clever marketing campaign over a couple of months/years to hype up and gauge interest in a potential "2.5" movie.

(One can always dream ;_; )

I wonder what the release plan for this after the festival is. Or do they even plan on showing this outside the festival at all? Unlike 3.0 -46h, there's no blu-ray set coming soon to put it on.

Most interesting about the title is the ; which could suggest this will only be part of whatever story they're introducing.

My dream is that, in the newly created world after Thrice there are no Eva's or Angels. Instead, there are KAIJU! And everyone works together at Monarch!

Very excited about this, regardless.
Shinji did nothing wrong!

The major difference is Anno wrote this.
It's also probably not plot based, but more of a celebration of the series.

I don't know how you can see one of the most ambitious animated film projects ever and think it's a low effirt cash grab.

That's a red flag for me. I feel like the more Anno is involved with writing, the worse it turns out in the end. Compare Love and pop which Anno co-write with Akio Satsukawa (or Eva for that matter) and Shiki Jitsu which he wrote alone. It's night and and day. One is a very focused story, and another is a drawn out snore fest, about basically nothing. I don't think Anno is a good writer. Every instance of him trying to write a script turns into incoherent mess. Although that is my personal opinion and it is subjective.

Were going a bit off topic here, but what is ambitious about it? Because it is a long movie? And half of it is filled with CG battle scenes that has nothing to do with the story? Or characters that sit and do nothing for the majority of the movie, and then they snap out of it and all forgive each other for no reason? I don't get it. But If I'll go more into details the moderator will delete this post, so hit me in DMs or another post if you want to discuss this.

To me it feels like you're describing a film I haven't seen.

I don't think Anno is a good writer.

Q and Shin Eva, Shin Godzilla, some of the NGE episodes he wrote alone are all masterpieces IMO. Gunbuster massively improved when he started writing on it.
Idk man

Not sure how a semicolon would imply that, but "Evangelion:30+;" is the name of the festival, not the short.

That's why I expect it to be incomprehensible and mostly useless outside great visual value.

Honestly I can't imagine holding some of these opinions on Anno's writing I'm seeing and being an active member of an Evangelion fan forum. I mean you guys do you I guess but its very alien to me.

As far as the short itself goes I'm looking forward to it, whether its just some meta thing or more Rebuild worldbuilding or whatever else.

I can like an author and not like specific works they have made (ex. I love Fujimoto and Chainsaw Man Part 2 sucks ass).
