Absolutely incredible that they'll be getting a separate Blu-ray for every iteration. I'm jealous that there's no way in hell that we'll get that here but I'm excited that this likely means we in the US will be getting a 4K box set sometime in the next 1-2 years.

I'm astonished Anno resisted tweaking/reworking on 1.11 and 2.22, after he went and retouched 3.33 into 3.333 while working on 3.0+1.0

I praise the completeness of this set, but good lord, $763 for the 28-disc, "big kahuna burger" version is insanity. The price gouging of the physical media market in Japan will never make sense to me.

At least when G-Kids releases their version of this sometime next year (I assume), it should have a much more reasonable price point. I hope they finally do an English dub of the short Kitakami prologue to 3.0+1.0 as part of the package... but I'm not holding my breath. In addition to that, it would be great if they can offer the Funimation and Amazon dubs as alternate audio tracks on the first three Rebuilds.

Yeah it really was "goodby Evangelion" huh.
2.0 might have needed an extra scene here or there, but idk if they could have pulled off that same look seamlessly so many years later. Either way I'm happy with Rebuild. Masterpiece IMO.

I spent $300 for the TV series, Death, and EoE with the Ultimate Edition. I'm definitely not spending nearly $800 for four movies, no matter how many different "versions" there are. I wouldn't even spend $800 for LoGH when that came out.

I don't want to hear "Well, the Japanese fans have to pay more, so we should, too." The Japanese fans are being ripped off. Greedy corporations.

If GKids wants to release a boxset of the movies, I might get it if the price is right (less than $300, hopefully). But it would be nice if they include both the Funimation and Dubbing Bros dubs of the first three movies. I'm sure getting the rights to the Funi dubs would be difficult, though.

I'm hopeful that Anime Limited here in the UK will be releasing 4K versions of the first 3 rebuilds now that this has been announced, they recently released a 4K blu ray of 3.0 + 1.11, I'm wondering if they had a heads up that Khara would be releasing this set, and released a 4K version of 3.0 + 1.11 to test the waters to see if a 4K version would sell overseas.

Or it could be completely coincidental !

When I saw the news I was initially excited about the offer, but then I remembered it was a Japanese release... And now that I come here I see the price! Jeesh!
I'm surprised they're releasing the cinema cuts of all movies. I know that's meant for the hardcore fans, but boy does it inflate the price.
And even if some variation of this is released in the US at a price point where I could reasonably import it here, it will probably come again without "Fly me to the moon", soooo... Hard pass.

I mean khara doesn't owe us their films. And these are easily accesible on Prime.

Plus they pay their employees well, so I'm for supporting this.

That's an old bonus feauture of 1.0 that had text on screen for every object, team or whatever that showed up in the film. Think Shin Godzilla.

I'm a big fan for these types of things; I already have all the Japanese blurays + the red dvd / blue bluray packs of the original series, but I fail to find any interest in this release. Ok cool they feature the theatrical releases and probably some upscaled versions of the first two movies in 4k, nothing that I personally find really interesting...

Also it probably cements the fact that this is the definitive edition of what they want to do with this series and we can forget about some kind of in between movie that features third impact and develops the side characters...

I won't get the Japanese release, but I'm pretty happy that they are re-releasing all the versions of the movies, including the theatrical versions - can't wait for someone to do comparisons with the later home video versions. Hope the updated next time previews from the TV broadcasts are also included as bonus material, and that at the very least we finally get 3.333 in Italy.
