Looking at the company's portfolio I can't say it looks too promising, but hopefully I'll be surprised. Personally I have always been interested in the idea of playing as a civilian and/or NERV employee getting stomped on when Shinji does an oopsie and 300 people die without him ever knowing it.
And yes, per NVIDIA: "Extended reality, or XR, is a collective term that refers to immersive technologies, including virtual reality, augmented reality and mixed reality." So presumably this will be a game running on a VR headset like the Quest. Some of their other games are on Steam, in English even.
