Have not played these yet but its one of those franchises I want to make time for at some point here. They look fun.

Oh you definitely should. The games are awesome. The latest one is a bit of a departure if you start with the earlier games first.

Are you talking about the change in combat styles? I heard the newer games moved to turn based combat.
