Hey everyone, I recently came across an old anime playlist of my favorite anime related songs, and I realized I've always wanted to make a top ten list of my favorite anime opening theme songs. Some of these openings have got me to watch a certain show while others that I hold in a high spot, I have not even watched any part of the series. As with all anime openings I'm sure there will be some sort of spoilers associated with the links provided, so click at your discretion. There was another good opening for a show with a big purple robot in it, I think it was called the “mean angel’s theory” or something. Sadly, there’s no video link I could find for it. It’ll just have to live on in my memory…

Some of my favourites include:
- Daicon IV’s Opening Animation. This counts, right?
- Dirty Pair: Project EDEN’s Safari Eyes. Oozes 80s cool. Gorgeous to watch and listen to.
- Dirty Pair Flash’s Loving In The Thrill. I enjoy all the DPF openings to varying degrees, but this one in particular does what an opening should do: gets you excited for the show its opening for, even if the show is awful and has none of the cool things shown in the opening.
- Dragon Ball Z’s Rock the Dragon. Reminds me of a time when I had hair and didn’t have to pay income tax.
- Tenchi Universe’s Tenchi Muyo! The first line happens to hold one of the best misheard lyrics: “Can’t escape it, ain’t no (anal) you should try it…”
- Negima!?’s 1000% Sparking. This may do what an opening should not do- provides little to no information and sets a misleading tone for the show to the audience. Looking at the visuals alone, one could be fooled into thinking the show carries a dark, moody tone, and listening to the first version’s audio may also paint that false picture. You wouldn’t think this was the opening to a brainless, colourful comedy, would you?
This does everything wrong the right way, and I love it for it. - The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya’s It's an Adventure, Right? Right?. It feels almost criminal to skip this opening.
