this is kinda funny...

the girl that plays Haruhi is a bit of a doof... (its the chick that played as the pink ranger)

but the girl that plays Mikuru is really cute...

Yeah, I mentioned this in the other Haruhi thread. I was impressed to see Bandai acknowledge fansubbers, at the very least.

That video was so far up the faggot tree it was coughing up cocks.
He was warrior and mystic, ogre and saint, the fox and the innocent, chivalrous, ruthless, less than a god, more than a man. There is no measuring Muad'Dib's motives by ordinary standards. In the moment of his triumph, he saw the death prepared for him, yet he accepted the treachery. Can you say he did this out of a sense of justice? Whose justice, then? Remember, we speak now of the Muad'Dib who ordered battle drums made from his enemies' skins, the Muad'Dib who denied the conventions of his ducal past with a wave of the hand, saying merely: "I am the Kwisatz Haderach. That is reason enough."

Clearly, someone isn't a Haruhi fan.

I think that sometimes we forget that a lot of the US distribution companies are run by people who aren't necessarily tremendously talented or bright, but were rather very early American otaku who started importing before most of us could read subtitles. (I'm not sure how true this of Bandai, but that definitely describes ADV).

Given that, I'm pleasantly surprised by this promotion. It's at least slightly more in tune with the fans than, say, ADV's attempt to rename Utawarerumono to "Shadow Warrior Chronicles."

Also, no matter how bad that video is, it still can't sway me from my long-term goal of opening a local chapter of the SOS-団.

Who's with me?

Not sure about that - but it did have about as much QUALITY than the otaku live action Haruhi I linked on the YouTube thread.

There is also that Haruhi (Hahiru) porn movie, where closed space was represented with a bunch of neon lights

That's the way the novels are.

Anyone on an Evangelion board can probably appreciate the uses of a little non-linear storytelling...

Perhaps I would if it was a serious animu like Evangelion

Either way, I have just watched 4 episodes so far, so yeah

I didn't have any problems with the shuffled episodes. It had the amusing effect that foreshadowing is done by characters recalling recent events. The real decider is whether you can stand Haruhi being a bully and a bitch, who has not clue one about what is going on around her.

Of course, her character does evolve over the course of the series. But her m.o. is what makes Haruhi Haruhi. I always kind of liked her attitude.

I kind of feel sorry for her, because all these awsome things are going on around her and Haruhi has no idea that anything out of the ordinary is happening. This might partially be because I feel the same way she does in that I'm always looking for crazy weird things that are happening. I know if one day I found out that all sorts of amazing stuff was going on behind my back and everyone kept it secret from me I'd be pissed.

Still too uneven a series to be particularily enjoyable. I dowloaded it, it was worth my time, but I won't be picking up any thinpacks.
If I have no soul to touch, no heart to love, no evil to rise up above
No angels and no ghosts, no real victories to toast
If you believe that this is true then I must ask;
to what end do you proceed?

Virtually everything in the series is a tribute to a series or genre, a love song to the anime industry. Even the famous "God knows..." concert scene is an almost shot-by-shot remake of a scene from the movie "Linda, Linda, Linda," about a jpop girl band.

And ultimately, I think, the show is about love. But it can be more impenetrable when the references are unclear. I have trouble finding a bad episode myself but, then again, Haruhi is my hero, and the people at Kyoto Animation are visual geniuses.

it certainly wasnt as bad as Mr. Tines' link...ill say that much...

Yuki wasn't shexzay enough...
Mikuru's hair wasn't orange enough...
And no Kyon...wtf?
And Haruhi was pretty corny...

but are you really gonna say its as bad as that?

its better than most Otaku vids ive seen...

And the Haruhi/ pink ranger girl isn't so bad...
Image
at least it wasn't a dude Tines

i wonder who the english voices will be

(EDIT): Wow it looks like they really are putting fan input on the spot here...

http://asosbrigade.com/auditions/a.php

no. 4 is definitely Sherry Lyn..(voice of Sasami in Tenchi Muyo)
[how sad is it that i can tell just by listening?]

i cant tell the others...but i think no. 2 sounds best...the scream sounds like the original
